People’s Campaign: “No BackDoor To Status”

July 14, 2014

The People’s Campaign for Equality, Jobs and Justice will be launching the “No BackDoor to Status” campaign on Friday July 18th, and are asking all supporters to wear red as a show of solidarity.

The People’s Campaign previously issued a statement calling upon the Government to take action regarding the legal “loophole” that gives PRC holders a path to status, and urged the following actions be taken:

  • 1. The government must suspend all grants of status based upon the “sleeping provision” loophole immediately.
  • 2. The government must make a commitment to fix the loophole legislatively.
  • 3. The government must undertake a review process with a view to establishing a path to status for PRC-qualified holders.

A spokesperson said, “In doing so,the original intent of the law would be preserved. It would also go a long way toward restoring the people’s confidence in the integrity of government.

“If the government wants to then have a review of the current pathway to citizenship,it should be undertaken on its own merit through the establishment of a formal review process.

“Such a review should be guided by a desire to develop pathways to citizenship that are fair and equitable and that strike a balance between the needs of a small country such as Bermuda and the rights of émigrés.

“The People’s Campaign affirms this position and calls upon all Bermudians to support the No BackDoor to Status campaign which will be launched on Friday, the 18th of July.

“We ask all supporters to wear red on Friday, July 18th as a show of solidarity. Additionally, we will be distributing No Back Door to Status stickers and are asking them to be worn and displayed as another show of unity.”

Alternatively, supporters can download No Back Door to Status image from bermudapeoplescampaign.com and their Facebook page to post on their social networking profiles.

In addition, the People’s Campaign also released their June 2014 Public Evaluation, in which they review legislation, ministerial statements, statements from the Opposition, articles in the media, and public reports.

“We examined them with an aim to produce a summary of our elected officials’ activities. This process will be used by the People’s Campaign to keep the people of Bermuda aware of decisions that are being made and how they are aligned with the people’s expectations,” added a spokesperson.

What is the opposite color to red?

    • Build a Better Bermuda says:

I believe it is green, not really the best choice given the party that represents… Let’s vote on blue for opposing this opposition

    • LET"S WEAR BLUE!!!! says:

let’s go with BLUE. if you SUPPORT the PRC holders who fall into this category and who may be considered for Bermuda Status (remember, these are folks who have committed to our community and are already part of the fabric and have been for more than 2 decades) then WEAR BLUE ON FRIDAY.

smarten up Bermuda – offering status through this so-called ‘loophole’ only adds to our community and takes NOTHING away. those who think they are against it either do not understand it, or are probably racist or xenophobic. from what i can see so far, those who are against it are mostly black. and this group also seems to think you can only be truly Bermudian if you are black. how completely absurd and ridiculous is that????

i’ll be wearing blue on friday.

      • Sandgrownan says:

        Blue it is!

      • Standing UP ! BETTTY TRUMP says:

“You have to develop ways so that you can take up for yourself, and then you take up for someone else. And so sooner or later, you have enough courage to really stand up for the human race and say, ‘I’m a representative.”

        -Maya Angelou

Zenophobia/Xenophobic are terms coined by the OBAubp. It is used to make the average Bermudian feel guilty or wrong about standing up for the Rights of born Bermudians. It is a political strategy used by the OBAubp to suggest that Bermudians should not stand up and speak out in the best interest of Bermudians, and if they did they were labeled as been ‘Zenophobia or Xenophobic.’

Bermudians do not fall for this nonsense and political baiting. Bermudians must believe that there is nothing wrong with standing up and ensuring that the needs of Bermudian people are met first.

This is your homeland, and in any other country in the world this is not seen as a problem. Strange the OBAubp are twisting it to make it seem otherwise in Bermuda.

The term “xenophobic” is the kind of “ Vitriol, hateful, vexatious and/or harmful words” comments that often is stated by supporters of the OBAubp. Daily on the blogs there are comments made that reflect such. I suggest that those same OBAubp bloggers take sometime and carefully re-read what they have written carefully over a period of one month. Do a “Critical Content Analysis” of their comments, and I am sure you will end up agreeing with me.

Lets be honest, Since very few if any PLP individuals write or read the blogs, in comparisons to the many, many OBAubp supporters I would have to say that the political agenda and race baiting sits in OBAubp hands.

So this attempt to place blame on the PLP supporters or members is false at best. It was the PLP whom developed the PRCs status, while the UBPoba requested they leave the Island. Now the PLP is merely asking that we stop for a minute and do a “Comprehensive Review of our Immigrations Policies and Laws” to ensure that all benefit.

Standing up for Bermudians is something we should all be proud of. Do not let certain OBAUbp Blogger Team make you feel any other way. Please continue to stand up and be a representative for Bermudians first.

        • mr.b says:

What isle in the grocery store is hiding the plp brainwash shampoo?

  2. Sandgrownan says:

The People’s Campaign is not a people’s Campaign. It’s a thinly veiled attempt by the PLP to try to add some legitimacy to their stance.

    • 32n64w says:

Correct. If they were at all concerned with justice they would be in full support of granting PRCs status. This only proves they are nothing more than a PLP PAC.

    • Redo says:

Exactly!! This is such an un-educated, hate-filled group. I am ashamed to call myself Bermudian right now. These PRC holders are our friends, our neighbors, our job creators. They are not taking a single thing away from us. Please people, educate yourselves about this. Please don’t just be a blind, ignorant follower. So much for Bermudians being lovely, hospitable people. Sad, so very sad.

  3. sonso says:

Wonder who is paying to get the stickers made up ??

  4. REALLY?! says:

Most of the people protesting the PRC holder’s right to status are only first or second generation Bermudian themselves. Who are you to say we did it but no one else can? Come on in and shut the door behind you, how nice. I think it is disgusting how you are treating people who are valued members of our community. PRC holders already have the right to work here, and many have done so for over 30 years. Giving them status will not take away jobs from Bermudians. I will make a point of NOT wearing red on Friday and shame on anyone who does!

  5. Tolerate says:

Can we get a statement from “The Peoples Campaign” on their stance to the utter craziness that occurred last week?
Can we get an official response to the PLP shutting the Island down to march on Government House in response to the Governor requesting a more complete document on a commission he is to sanction.
After all, with the overreaction to his response by the PLP; Tuesday the island WILL shutdown for a march at their request. That means NO buses, NO ferries for the period of time for assembly, march and dispersion.

  6. Roger says:

These folk are clearly PLP xenophobic bigots, ‘People’s Campaign’ my butt, the people voted, the people voted OBA, although this is a PLP law giving status to those who have worked hard for our country.

They should all be ashamed of themselves.

I bet Digicel wish they hadn’t given out so many red freebies!

People’s Campaign – Just another hater organization.

  7. Roger says:

…just filled in the People’s Campaign survey.

Questions asked relate to ‘Are you part of a Union’ (answer No).

Question: ‘Which Union are you a part of’

Question: ‘Is your employer part of a Union’.

So not even thinly veiled, run by the Unions, looking to increase Union membership, but pretending it’s not a Union operation so that it can claim clean hands as the Unions bring the island to a grinding halt.

    • whatevs says:

you can’t submit it unless you give your name and email address at the end.

  8. serengeti says:

I wonder how many PLP MP’s can tell us both sets of grandparents were born in Bermuda.

  9. Sandgrownan says:

Worth adding, abput point 3, there is a path to status for “qualified PRC” holders. But they know that.

Why does the “People’s Campaign” want to trample on human rights?

  10. brigadooner says:

PRC workers are some of the largest economic contributors, and tend to be among the most involved with our community. In a time where international business can move more easily than ever, would it not be wise to actually be welcoming these people and allow them to grow some real roots here?

  11. Kangoocar says:

I thought the people’s campaign was NOT political??? Don’t tell me the plp/unions lied to all of again??? They never had credibility and in the future they never will!!!! I long for the day that these types stop spending their time disrupting things!!!

    • Tolerate says:

Right, sure their not…. I haven’t had an answer yet to if they support the march on Governor House.
Guess that will cause them to show their real hand.

      • Kangoocar says:

We all know the answer to your question and it is, of course they do!!! I would fire immediately any government employees who take off work and show up for this nonsense march!!! They are not going to be happy until they completely destroy this island!! It is sad that they are not intelligent enough to understand that they will be the first to starve to death!! All for the sake of the plp regaining power, which in the end, the plp will have power over a worthless island $$ wise and be responsible for its supporters hunger with NO money to feed them??? This will be another sad day for Bermuda, thankfully I am flying out today and will not have to witness the foolish behavior that surely will take place with this latest protest of ignorance!!!!!

  12. aceboy says:

The People’s Campaign only represesent certain people. No red on Friday here.

  13. Steve Davis says:

PLP Tea party! Right wing, overly religious and xenophobic

  14. Eddie says:

How can they call themselves the “People’s Campaign for Equality, Jobs and Justice” when PRCs make up part of the ‘people’. They should change their name to “Bermudians Entitlement Campaign”. It’s more honest.

  15. James Herald says:

If they take out the “Status” bit they can re-use these stickers to protest equal rights for gays.

    • Raymond Ray says:

Same crap, different day…What will they gain by disrupting the “traffic”? Bottom-line, the Governor isn’t going anywhere; plain and simple. The Progressive Labour Party haven’t accepted the fact that they are now the Opposition and no-longer the Government of the Islands of Bermuda. Sad yes…but true :-(

  16. Alvin Williams says:

I think we should forget about trying to convince elements in this country who have never stood for progressive change; who have in fact stood against democratic reforms; to make common cause with the people’s campaign. We are in a struggle to liberate our country; to protect and preserve the future for our children in this country from those that would deny it.
If you think that this is not a struggle than ask yourself who are the ones that are bearing the burden of unemployment? Who is expect the make the most sacrifice in the so-called economic recovery of Bermuda?
There comes a time that a people must face the reality in which they find themselves. For the people of Bermuda now is that time.

    • Sandgrownan says:

Progressive change? There’s nothing progressive about the PLP, they are a tired old conservative party who would rather trample on people’s human rights.

You’re on the wrong side of history Alvin.

    • Yahoo says:

Keep repeating the same untrue drivel Alvin… someone will believe it someday.

    • 32n64w says:

Speaking of change Alvin, interesting that the People’s Campaign have a link to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on their website. I wonder if any of their membership have actually read Article 15:

      (1) Everyone has the right to a nationality.
      (2) No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his nationality nor denied the right to change his nationality.

Wonder how long that link will remain active now?

For an organistion that prides itself on ensuring job opportunities for Bermudians, why did they elect to host and run their website in Canada via a proxy service?

Are there no capable Bermudians available locally who can provide this service? Or is it ok when “they do it”?

    • Build a Better Bermuda says:

If they represent progressive change and democratic reform, why then are they against progressing our political process and democratically reforming it with fresh voters? Why then would deprive a citizen of Bermuda from having a voice in the direction the country takes, of having a say in their future?

    • Alvin. Do the prc’s buy gas, groceries, pay taxes ergo SUPPORT the COMMUNITY of BERMUDA and its people???????????? WE ALL are bearing the burden of the pop/biu miss management!!!! I will wear BLUE anything but red, Guess my status, race, political party. Bet your wrong

    • Beware says:

      +
      +++++

Now is that time Alvin ? WHAT,,, it wasn`t that time when the hateful PLP/BIU were Government? The PLP/BIU/PC are thin skinned dreamers that do nothing to make Bermuda a better place for anyone.
I mean look who is leading the PLP FOR God sake ! you are truly a comedy !

  17. BlueFamiliar says:

The People’s campaign lost any possible credibility they had to be other than just another Union group when the worked with Clarien for union members only and no one else.

Now it’s just clearly another means for the BIU/PLP to get their message out.

  18. Lauren Bell says:

How are these requests “xenophobic” or “shutting the door” on anyone?

    1. The government must suspend all grants of status based upon the “sleeping provision” loophole immediately.
    2. The government must make a commitment to fix the loophole legislatively.
    3. The government must undertake a review process with a view to establishing a path to status for PRC-qualified holders.

    • serengeti says:

Because all those things would deny a group of people their legal rights.

    • Redo says:

      Wow Lauren, clueless much?

    • Cardine Alice says:

“People’s Campaign” suggest a democratic platform. It follows that this PLP group should respec the laws they passed and amend them through parliament. This is no banana republic. This is not judge made law. Don’t incite hatred. The only colour that matters to Bermuda is the colour of their money.

  19. Joonya says:

Red huh..? Same color the PLP put our financial state in..

  20. Navin Johnson says:

This will probably be attended by the same 80 people who show up at the Town Hall meetings and who may show up at Government House on Tuesday…..although the Government house protest is scheduled for 5:30 so it may not have many people show up since it occurs after normal working hours

  21. serengeti says:

Shouldn’t this group change its name to the “National Front”?

That name would more properly convey its political stance…anti- immigration, anti-foreigner, protectionist, nationalist, socially conservative.

  22. For each and every comment listed here – there are at least 10 to 15 others who think otherwise

    • Come Correct says:

Yes the likes and dislikes show that clearly…

    • Thin end says:

…they just don’t have the literacy skills to express themselves. They would rather march and shout nonsensicle slogans.

      • PBanks says:

“Nonsensicle”? You kind of blew that one there, mate :-)

    • Evie says:

That’s true have you noticed same bloggers same response different day OBA followers funny as hell hahahahaha

    • BlueFamiliar says:

Should be an awful lot of people wearing red on Friday, then. It’ll be interesting to see.

    • hmmm says:

Very broad estimate. What is it based on?

      Is it PLP maths.

      • Build a Better Bermuda says:

That would be the PLP mathematics of:

        Earnings (1+1) – Expenditures (1+1+1) = Good Financial Practice

  23. ann says:

Has anyone sat down with the folk that do not wish to grant the PRC’s their status, and told them,( I will assume a large majority are civil service) that they get paid because these people pay their taxes! Soon, if we do not do something to educate these folks about where money comes from, they can all go on strike, because there will be NO funds to pay them.I can not wait till Privatization begins, than they may begin to understand how the rest of the world must exist.

    • Build a Better Bermuda says:

PLP policy has long been to exploit foreign workers and not give them anything back as they don’t have the right to say anything about it, and should they actually complain, kick them out.

  24. James Herald says:

I’m sorry but there is no way I’m wearing red this Friday. I certainly don’t want to be mistaken for a Somerset supporter. It will have to be blue an blue all de way!

    St G for de cup!

    • Build a Better Bermuda says:

It leaves me in a jam, I’m all for Somerset, but I will be wearing blue for my fellow citizens. The right for political determination is a human right, and these PRC’s that are eligible, deserve that right. Otherwise the PLP need to apologize for letting foreign nationals like Dame Lois Browne-Evans and Dr. Gordon, influence the purity of our Bermudian politics.

  25. Noel Ashford says:

The PLP are promoting xenophobia and racism en-masse. I am so tired of hearing this boring and seemingly intellectually void party talk… They have no new ideas, just promoting hate and bigotry. I am tempted to run a campaign to remove them from even being an opposition based on promoting hate, so that we can finally heal as a people and not continue their unprecedented drive to divide us. #END_THE_PLP… I fully support allowing foreigners of all walks in to our society. It is healthy and normal in all societies and desirable to anybody who isn’t small minded. As long as they are of benefit to existing Bermudian’s or have given their lives to Bermuda for such a long time, I fully support it. The PLP are a shameless disgusting party. How anybody in modern society can support them, i do not know. I can’t wait for the day until we never hear the name PLP ever again. A second new Party is needed that puts race baiting aside in favor of unity. PLP, as always, shame on you.

  26. Thin end says:

“…restoring the people’s confidence in the integrity of government”.

How can a tiny cell of misfits with no mandate demand that the *elected* government dance to their tune?

The integrity of Government is well established and healthy. It is this small cell that is trying to bye-pass democracy and incite non-democratic movements.

This is the thin end of a dangerous wedge.

  27. Unbelievable says:

It boggles my mind to no END that there are Bermudian people in this country who want to deny certain people who have contributed to Bermuda’s well-being, a right to vote. These people didn’t come here to take anything from any Bermudian but they want to relegate themselves to second-class citizenship. These are the same people who claim to be such as well, yet they want to force the same position on other people.

These PRCs already have jobs and property. Yes it’s all about votes. If the PLP and The People’s Campaign had any sense they would welcome these people as possible voters. But no! They have this provincial and tribal mentality that is completely against outsiders of any kind.

It doesn’t matter anyway if the PRCs are given status or not, the PLP and the People’s Campaign are still going to vote against the OBA at the next election. What’s the point of demanding this anyway? Give these people status!

I too, a Bermudian, will be wearing BLUE!

    • Portia says:

“These PRCs already have jobs and property.”

      Finally, you get it.

      Girl in Red

      • LOL (Original TM*) says:

        Huh

        LOL

        • Come Correct says:

They want them to feel unwelcome and leave. Worked out great last time we tried that approach.

  28. BlueFamiliar says:

    Side note

    1. The government must suspend all grants of status based upon the “sleeping provision” loophole immediately.
    2. The government must make a commitment to fix the loophole legislatively.
    3. The government must undertake a review process with a view to establishing a path to status for PRC-qualified holders.

1.OBA have done this. All applications are on hold.
2.OBA are already looking into the situation and working on sorting out how best to deal with it.
    3.I don’t know, but I rather suspect that’s already part of 2.

So, uhm, why’re they asking for stuff already underway?

    • Unbelievable says:

To answer your last question, because it’s a total PR stunt. They don’t like the OBA period. As you’ve pointed out, the OBA has done those points but they want the OBA out so they will do anything to make the OBA look bad. That’s why.

      • Redo says:

Or because they are a very uneducated group that don’ts unnerstand stuffs so goood.”

  29. THE RESPONDERS ON THIS BLOG ARE IN LEFT FIELD.
THE MAIN-STREAM BERMUDIANS DO NOT WRITE HERE.

WE MUST AND WILL LISTEN TO THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE AND NOT BE MISLED BY A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE WRITNG ON THIS STRING.

LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE – LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE

    • Stand Up !! BETTTY TRUMP says:

@ an average Bermudians…Thanks for your comment, you have just confirmed what I have written above. I will take it a step further to say that Most of those folks whom do not read or write on the blogs are those that support the PLP. Only a few PLP individuals write on the blogs, and it is not on a regular basis daily, whereby the same OBAubp bloggers Team write everyday. The same names daily come up. Therefore, the distasteful comments often are reflective of the OBAubp party and supporters.

      Thanks

      • Redo says:

For the love of GOD Batty, learn how to use the word “whom!” You show your ignorance every time you speak.

        • HERE IT IS AGAIN says:

@Redo….Here is an just another example of my point. Read the comments they are Representative of all “OBAubp blogger Team.”

          • LOL (Original TM*) says:

Is that before or after they read the PLP blogteam twerkin their hate all over every political thread. If counted I’m sure you would find more hatefull remarks coming from the PLP “team” (your word) guess thats all in the perspective isnt it. They are the Bermuda Tea party just like the republicans they are the party with the hatefull sub group they can try to distance themselves but its impossible as those in the sub group are to easily connected to the PLP.

LOL the term hypocrites seems fitting but I’ll let other use the term if they wish

  30. campervan says:

There was a political party formed in the UK called “Britain first” (look them up)
They are thinly veiled bigoted prejudiced motley bunch that leave a bad taste in the mouth of any civic minded person.
I see many similarities with this Bermuda “peoples campaign.”
Be careful people, these are early days and there seems to be evil brewing amongst us.
STOP with your prejudiced hating on PRCs peoples campaign
STOP with the stomping on human rights.
Call your attack dogs and storm troopers off.

  31. Silence Do Good says:

I will say it again. To the People’s Campaign stop calling yourself the “People’s Campaign” as you do not represent me as a person nor as a Bermudian.

I support the PRC’s getting full unfettered status after a number of years. Twenty years seems outrageous to me but understand our limited resources and the need to see a “real” commitment to Bermuda.

Bermuda has no pathway to status except for marriage and birth to at least one Bermudian parent. I as a Bermudian welcome others from all countries that provide a sustainable (x number of years) economic benefit to Bermuda. Not just the CEO hiring a dozen Bermudians but the Gardener and Wait Staff that spend twenty plus years here paying rent, buying goods, supporting clubs and activities, raising children who are friends with my children and grandchildren etc. because no Bermudian wants their job or has put themselves in a position to do the job after twenty years of work permits.

This is a Human Rights issues plain and simple and Bermuda is lacking in its responsibility to resolve a pathway to status for individuals who are born and or reside in our community as activate law abiding resides for twenty plus years.

Those with the view that they will be losing something with the inclusion of others in the club have to remember that once a person joins the club they tend to have the same feelings regarding Bermuda’s economy, stability, safety, education, housing, cost of living etc…. We are not alone in wanting a better future for Bermuda we just have to accept that there are others who want the same thing.

    • Equal Opportunist says:

Beautifully said. Too bad most of the People’s Campaign supporters (aka PLP supporters) will not read or understand it.

  32. Human rights fo all says:

If the People’s Campaign thought that the PRCs would likely be PLP supporters they would be welcomed with open arms. We all know this.

    • HERE IT IS AGAIN says:

But mostly to in attempt to attack the PLP, but they fail to understand our supporters do not read the blogs or write comments. The percentage is extremley low in comparison to the OBAubp support base.
Same nonsense, just a different day…

      • SMH says:

But unlike you, they’re not getting paid. Another slow day at the BIU headquarters?

        • Coffee says:

What’s amazing is that it’s an overlooked fact that Don Gearson is a paid OBA speech writer . Do you think that he is only writing speeches for the OBA ? Or could it be that he posting under one or more of the above named pseudonyms. Hmmm… I’ve identified one paid OBA writer … Anybody care to identify at least one PLP paid blogger ? Anybody ? Or does Bob Richards have to look under the hood for the evidence !
          Thanks Here …
If the PLP was ever interested in giving away a privilege that wasn’t theirs to give away in the first instance ,namely status to foreigners then that would have happened by 2003 . But they chose to preserve the two rights to claim Bermuda , by birth to at least one Bermudian parent anywhere in the world or by marraige to a Bermudian and satisfying the prerequisite conditions , and many believe those are enshrined in our collective thought pattern . Denying or granting people status on the pretext of the vote is an old fashioned idea and died with 1989 .

          • LOL (Original TM*) says:

All speculation just like the PLP Blogg team right?!

            LOL

      • Build a Better Bermuda says:

Oh, oh, can I be on the list too, cause I think the PLP policies and practices for the last couple decades have been disastrous for the Bermuda economy and all sectors of our society. But as there is no obvious evidence of this, I must be a mindless OBA blogger.

        • Thin End says:

Those that do not want to accept the truth only read the PLP headline, or listen to the inflamatory soundbite.

Listening to the call-in shows it is obviuous that PLP supporters regurgitate false ‘facts’ that thay have heard but have not bothered to (or do not want to) research the truth as it is contrary to their hateful ideals.

PRC holders are (almost be definition) educated (they had to have qualifications to get to Bermuda) and worldly (most are over 50 and travelled). Do you think they would vote back in a cell of self-servers to repeat the horrors under the Brown Stain? No way.

This is why the PLP is so terribly desperate right now. The death throes of an irrelevant and hate-filled cell.

      • serengeti says:

You do realize that even though you have changed your name at least twice on this thread alone, we all know you’re the same person posting again and again.

“Stand up Bettty” and “Standing up Bettty” and “Here it is again”. They’re all you. You must have some time on your hands today.

And we also know that Betty is an amalgamation of several paid people tag-teaming.

There goes the PLP making things personal.

Always trying to make targets out of private citizens.

      • 32n64w says:

        McCarthyism much Betty?

      • 32n64w says:

“our supporters do not read the blogs or write comments”

And this is considered healthy? Why wouldn’t a voter want to research the issues, consider other viewpoints or inform themselves Betty? Do you prefer the electorate are spoon fed rather than think for themselves?

This is a core problem with local politics and the PLP in particular. They are afraid to explore, examine and understand the issues because information destroys their talking points.

      • Tolerate says:

A**…. look at my number of blogs. Just like what the PLP do; tell a bunch of lies….
And as stated MANY times, I am not a Party supporter and have voted for the PLP a number of times.
I however thank-you each day of reminding me why I stopped and will not be doing so again until this mentality that you share, of no one having the right to speak for themselves or against the Party can actually NOT be an OBA member/blogger or what ever other s*** you come up with.
Thanks, keep doing a good job in renewing my correct decision in stop supporting the PLP Party, and there’s many more like me disappointed in what the Party and their most loyal supports represent.

        • Tolerate says:

Furthermore, you’re so damn lazy to gather facts that all you have done is read post of people NOT supporting the latest dumb decision by the PLP and grouped them together.

      • Raymond Ray says:

On behalf of everyone you mentioned I thank you, “HERE IT IS AGAIN” for reading the remarks / the fact contributed by them that you’d mentioned:-)

  33. IT SHOULD BE CLEAR AS DAY THAT THIS ISSUE IS NOT ABOUT VOTES – IT IS MUCH BIGGER THAN THAT

    • LOL (Original TM*) says:

no its about votes and to try to dissolve parliment

  34. Human rights fo all says:

No; It is as clear as day that this is simply about votes, and we all know this.

    • Build a Better Bermuda says:

So what is it about, the PLP claim it’s completion in the job market, but the PRC’s already have those. The PLP claim it’s about completion in the property market, but the PRC’s already in it. Education, they go to our schools already. If you honestly believe that this about anything other than votes for the PLP, I’ve got a swing bridge for sale at the end of the causeway, it was newly refurbished by the PLP before they opted to leave government office.

@Here it is again – I’m with you! It pains these fools to think that our will shall be done! Keep blogging, keep showing your disdain for us, and we will continue to rise!

  37. shirley Richardson says:

After reading some of these statements, I’m not surprised at all it’s quite obvious that many of you bloggers don’t have any concern for born Bermudians. you talk about the right to free speech, but when groups like the Peoples Campaign exercise their right to speak up about some of the injustices, affecting the native people of this country, they are called bigots, anti-foreign, PLP surrogates, and everything else.

In fact if it were not for people like Rev. Tweed, Jason Hayward,BPSU, Chris Furbert,BIU, Dr. EF Gordon, Dr. Barbara Ball, Ottie Simmons, Eva Hodgson, John Barrit, Kingsly Tweed, Dr. MLK, Nelson Mandela, Dame Lois Brown Evans, and so many more honorable people world wide, People of color would still be slaves, and millions of whites would still be living in caves.

I would agree, that all of us has a right to speak out, however we must remember that freedom of speech is no longer just attributed to the privileged, but the under privileged has the same rights too.

So for those who don’t like the Peoples Campaign and their position on the issues, I say” GET OVER IT.” by the way for you so-called smart people the color red is the international color of the LABOR MOVEMENT. (NOW I”LL WAIT FOR THE HATERS RESOPONSE.”)

“it’s quite obvious that many of you bloggers don’t have any concern for born Bermudians”

That’s the thing: we do. And most of us have the intellectual capacity to actually be aware of how we got here.

Tell me, Shirley – before the first ‘born Bermudian’ in your family, they were ..what?
