Amaral Wins Sedgwick Chudleigh Scholarship

Law firm, Sedgwick Chudleigh Ltd., has announced the recipient of its 2014 Legal Education Award. Bermudian, Tomas Amaral, has been awarded the full annual award of $10,000.

Mr Amaral is currently enrolled in the LL.B. program at the University of Kent in Canterbury in the U.K. Managing Partner, Mark Chudleigh said: “The scholarship committee found Tomas’ academic performance at Kent to have been impressive, as was his written scholarship application and presentation during interview”.

Mr Amaral will be returning to Kent at the end of September to commence his second year of the course. Before beginning his legal studies in England, he attended Saltus Grammar School in Bermuda.

Sedgwick Chudleigh’s Legal Education Award is given each year to the applicant enrolled in a law degree course [including the Legal Practice Court or the Bar Professional Training Course] who demonstrates an interest in, and aptitude for, pursuing a career in insurance law and/or commercial litigation, as well as the desire to ultimately return to practice law in Bermuda.

The firm is affiliated with the international law firm Sedgwick LLP. It serves both local and international clients. Its practice areas are focused on commercial litigation, trust litigation, contentious insolvency matters and insurance/reinsurance coverage disputes.
