Police Confirm Death Of 88 Year Old Man

[Updated with statement from Premier] A male pedestrian was injured this morning [Dec 4] after being involved in a collision with a car in the Par-La-Ville Road, Serpentine Road Pembroke area.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 10am today, Thursday December 4th first responders were dispatched to a reported serious collision in the Par-La-Ville Road, Serpentine Road Pembroke area.

“Details are unclear at the moment; however initial information suggests that a car collided with a male pedestrian. The victim, believed to be a senior citizen, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

“Inquiries are ongoing and any witnesses should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

Update 1.16pm: Police said, “At last check the male senior citizen pedestrian injured by a car around 10am today in the Par-La-Ville Road, Serpentine Road Pembroke area was in stable condition at the hospital receiving ongoing medical assessment. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening at this time.”

Update 4.54pm: We are expecting a police statement shortly.

Update 4.59pm: A police spokesperson said, “An 88 year old male pedestrian struck by a car around 10am today, Thursday December 4th in the Par-La-Ville Road, Serpentine Road Pembroke area has since died.

“Following the collision the Pembroke man was initially admitted into the hospital in stable condition. However, he was subsequently pronounced dead at 2:47pm.

“No further information regarding the deceased will be given at this time until next of kin has been notified.

“A full investigation into this fatal collision is underway and police continue to appeal for any witnesses, especially persons that may have been in the Par-La-Ville Road, Serpentine Road Pembroke area around 10am Thursday to contact the investigating officer PC Stephen Paynter at the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788 or the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
