Photos & Results: Shield Semi-Final Game

[Updated with more photos] Football fans made their way east today [Dec 26] to watch the Shield Semi-Final held at the St. George’s Cricket Club in Wellington where Somerset Eagles went down to Young Men Social Club.

This was the first game of today’s double header with Somerset Trojans facing Robin Hood in the second match. At the Wellington Oval the Young Men Social Club came from behind to defeat the defending champions Somerset Eagles 5 – 4.

Tristan Smith game the Somerset Eagles the lead in the 3rd minute, but Nique Armstrong equalized for the Young Men Social Club two minutes later. Whakail Tucker would put the Somerset Eagles back in front with a goal in the 11th minute, but yet again the score would be level in the 28th minute when McLee Smith scored.

Kanhai Fray would once again restore the Somerset Eagles lead with a goal in the 40th minute and when Matteo Frazzoni scored in the 44th minute the Somerset Eagles would take a 4 – 2 lead into the half time break.

Zico Lewis pulled Young Men Social Club within one when he scored in the 66th minute and then two minutes later he equalized making the score -, just when it seemed as if the match was heading for extra time Kelvin Butterfield found the back of the net as Young Men Social Club advanced to the Shield Final.
