Mishka Crowd Funds “Roots Fidelity” Album

January 2, 2015

Bermuda’s reggae/folk rock artist Mishka has turned to crowd funding in order to get his new album “Roots Fidelity” off the ground, with 207 pledgers giving him 58 percent of his goal as of January 2, 2015.

The singer’s crowd funding page says, “My new album “Roots Fidelity” is a project inspired by my passion for Roots Reggae Music, and by a request from many of my fans to make a genre specific, straight up Roots Reggae album.

“It will mostly be brand new tracks but will also have a few older tracks, rerecorded in a strictly roots style. Recording will be taking place over the next few months and will be released no later than May 1, 2015.

“There are a number of items both material and experiential, and of course pre-sale copies of the LP, CD, and anyone pledging will at very least receive a digital download of the new album.”

“So pledge to be a part of the creativity, and to support real music as it happens. Give Thanks, and enjoy.”

Mishka originally signed to Alan McGee’s Creation Records in the UK in 1997. In 1999, he released his first single, “Give You All The Love” which was an immediate success charting in the Top 40 in the UK and Top 10 in Japan.

Later in 1999 Mishka released his self-titled debut album Mishka [including Heather Nova on backing vocals] which received much critical acclaim in both the UK and Japan.

His 2009 album “Above the Bones” debuted at number one on the Billboard Reggae Charts, and Mishka was named that year’s Best New Artist in the singer/songwriter category by iTunes.
