18th Annual KPMG Round The Grounds Race
The 2016 KPMG Round the Grounds races are set to be held on Sunday, March 20, with the races including age groups from four through 18-years-old.
A spokesperson said, “Parents are encouraged to sign their young athletes up early, as this year entry will be limited to the first 700 runners. Register online, or pick up a registration form at Sportseller, Washington Mall.
“Deadline for paper entries is 4:45pm, Wednesday, March 16 and online 5:00pm Friday, March 18.
“Recently in the KPMG Street Mile, Telford Mile and Dash at Dark held last weekend, we have seen the emergence of new stars like Ta’han Eve, Carlina Mowatt, Milan Gibbons and Nhari Gilbert join Nyori Dill as prospects to watch in the future. Over recent years we have become accustomed to seeing Jasmin Hasselkuss and Shayla Cann confidently front run to podium finishes in the Primary school girls’ races, while Jake Brislane has dominated the Primary school boys.
“In the Middle school age groups we look forward to watching Jade Johnston, Zoe Hasselkuss and Selah Tuzo, and in the boys Tommy Marshall and Kahzi Sealey. This year Jessie Marshall and Ryan Outerbridge will need all their endurance as they face the tough 2.1 mile course for the first time.
“It is important to note that a great deal of fun will be had by all our athletes who participate and enjoy the race and the reward of finishing, receiving a medal and then enjoying the fun activities which will be on offer. Activities include crafts, organised by Masterworks, a bouncy castle, ice creams, food from Homer’s and other treats for the whole family.
“This event is run by MAAC and kindly sponsored by KPMG in Bermuda. Every year we are extremely grateful to the Tucker family who allow parking at the Lagoon property, the grass area opposite Botanical Gardens on South Road. Organisers request that participants come early to park with lots of time allowed before the first race starts at 1:00pm, as the road and parking become very congested.
“Number pickup is on Saturday, March 19 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm in the Masterworks’ courtyard in Botanical Gardens. Late registration at an additional charge will also be available at this time. We look forward to seeing the whole family for a day of racing and fun.”
