  1. Um.... says:

Ms. Laws must be getting tired of hitting those steps. That junction is a dangerous spot.

  2. Jeremy Deacon says:

I do hope everyone is safe.
One question – this is a notorious blackspot (there is a sign there with a blackspot on it to let us know) – why not construct a mini roundabout?

    • Jeremy Deacon says:

also, we have traffic calming measures at other places, but not here, why not?

      • Jus' Wonderin' says:

        1. Because it’s really NOT THAT BAD LMFAO!

        2. It will take $500,000 and half a year for a mini roundabout!

        • Jeremy Deacon says:

lol, more like 12 months and $1m. But, seriously, if it is not that bad why is it marked as an accident blackspot?

    • Bald & The Beauty Full says:

Yes, you can see the sign in the background of the video clip.

    • Family Man says:

How hard is it to understand a STOP sign. It’s a simple four letter word and when you see a wall or a building, the idea is avoid hitting it.

    • sage says:

It is the non-drivers, not the intersection. How much did that unnecessary roundabout at Blackwatch Pass cost again?

    • Jeremy Deacon says:

bizarre that my comment – which is promotes road safety – gets so many dislikes.

      • Yahoo says:

Maybe it’s the unnecessary spending on an intersection that’s not that bad is what people are disliking?

  3. Triangle Drifter says:

    Another stability test fail.

  4. Jus' Sayin' says:

I think those steps need traffic lights…..

  5. bee says:

how much you wanna bet they were speeding?

  6. The Steps Tho! says:

Didn’t they just fix those steps!!!

    • Bald & The Beauty Full says:

I was thinking the same thing, just a few weeks ago from the last accident.

  7. Terry says:

Looks like a fairly new car.
    Ouch!!!!

  8. yes i know says:

Thanks all you people who think you can drive for uping my insurance!
Slow down, you guys wanna wang every where.

  9. DBL says:

install a camera on the building and get proof of the problems causing this accidents on this corner

    • Terry says:

Yesterday I would agree with you and May the 4th be with you.

      Today?
May the 5th be with you.

      Shalom.

  10. Hurricane says:

That poor building and business. What’s up with so many drivers “loosing control” of their vehicles?

  11. Blind sheep says:

Goverment needs to do something about these walls and curbs just jumping out at drivers….its getting really out of hand.

    • OnionBird says:

      Lol

    • Onionjuice says:

Government, needs to do nothing… the people need to do it. Slow down..

Yes it is a hot spot.. so take more caution…

  12. mmm says:

This is a frequent accident spot, and I do try to avoid using tee street to travel east along middle road, traffic is simply too fast. It would be good if the police released their findings to the public, on the statistical bre akdown of 50 collisions happening at this junction i.e. 22 – speeding, 7 – drunken driving, 6 – mechanical fault, 8 – misjudging distance of approach ing vehicle, 7 – wet/oily/sandy road surface. I can,t tell the authorities where to place the emphasis—–they have all the data, not me. On the flip side, its usually people,s driving habits, and the police cannot be every-where. If I am late for work due to my own circumstances, then I am going to be late, I am making more and more of an effort to be part of the solution and not a problem on our roads.

  13. Jim bob says:

What is it with that stairs on that building??!! They were only just repaired after a well known lawyer flipped his car there not too long ago and took out the same stairs!

    • Ms Lady says:

See, that is the exact same thing I thought. Poor steps.

    • Terry says:

Those steps have been there since I was a boy over 60 years ago.
If you don’t know that Tee Street does end at the bottom of the hill going south (an example) call a freeking Cab.

  14. Mr. Meoff says:

People are just simply NOT PAYING ATTENTION.

    • Hurricane says:

And when you don’t pay attention when driving, you “loose control”

  15. Hope says:

I’m not sure if this already happens, but if an area has been designated as a black spot, then shouldn’t there be an independent survey completed to find out why? And then measures implemented to try and reduce the accidents? Does anyone know if this happens? Just putting a sign up is really just saying “this is an issue, we are aware of it, but we aren’t going to do anything to fix it.” It doesn’t look as though it would help in this particular case, but wouldn’t traffic lights at this junction, even just during premium times, help vehicles to enter/exit the junction without making risky decisions?

    • sage says:

      Donate a set.

    • Not s Safe says:

“this is an issue, we are aware of it, but we aren’t going to do anything to fix it.” Problem is you can’t fix stupid – I have been driving on this road for 40 years and because I am aware of the fact that you can’t fix stupid I am extra careful at this junction – amongst others – I don’t need traffic lights – the frequent accident black spot sign is notice enough that I need to take extra special care. Damn if we had roundabouts and lights at every junction that had an accident we would be one big traffic jam – “Good grief Charlie Brown”.

      • Hope says:

To a certain extent I agree. I am also extra careful at this junction. But the Government still have a duty to protect its citizens as best it can, and if there is extra risk in one particular spot then there should at least be a risk assessment carried out. Luckily for you and I we pay extra attention, but what about the tourists who visit our island, or people who are new drivers?

  16. OnionBird says:

The Police were doing radar at the Arboretum, when I drove by a half hour earlier too! So they need to have their radar gun pointing at those coming up the hill there as careless speed is responsible for such accidents! Meanwhile I hope the young lady is ok.

  17. Triangle Drifter says:

Oh puhleeeze, that junction is nowhere near as dangerous as it once was. Who remembers when Tee Street was very much a 2 lane road at that intersection & so was Middle Road.

Nowhere near as wide & with much better sightlines as that intersection does now. By Bermuda standards this is now one of the better intersections.

    Driver error, pure & simple.

  18. Lois Frederick says:

That metal railing was just fixed a few weeks ago. Glad the driver only had minor injuries. Everyone please drive carefully.

  19. Wahoo says:

    Flip!

  20. Deshaun says:

A large dose of slow the Hell Down needed

  21. noskills says:

Single vehicle accident, 20 year old, new car….sounds like texting or talking on cell phone to me.

Why is there never any follow up as to the cause of these “accidents”, or blood alcohol level etc…

  22. Onionjuice says:

There is nothing wrong with our roads, stop signs, it is the drivers and riders.. SLOW down.. and give a little more courtesy to others…

    And put down the PHONES.

  23. Demolition derby says:

WTH is going on with all these cars and vans flipping over, inquiring minds want to know how this keeps happening

  24. Common cent$ says:

No respect for the road by drivers. Hope it doesn’t take an innocent pedestrian becoming a victim in this era of carelessness.

  25. Raymond Ray says:

Use STOP lights!!! I personally know of people who have over years loss their lives due to this section not being safe… :-(

    • serioulsy..... says:

there’s a stop sign. If they don’t obey the stop sign do you really think a light is going to be better? Nope, they will just race to make it through.

It’s not the “spot” it’s the DRIVING HABITS of those on the roads.

I keep seeing comments along the lines of “things are getting so bad on the roads, there are so many accidents lately, its time to fix the roads” Ummm wake up, it’s not the roads, they have always been the same, it’s the drivers.

  26. mmm says:

I have to be extra careful on the road today, due to high winds and wet wea ther, stormy conditions, be assured, there will be some doing their usual in a hurry to get to work “road show” risking their lives and putting others at risk. Emergency services will have stepped up their level of pre pardness, not only because of today,s weather, but also because there is the week-end let,s hang out, party . Safer roads means a need for heavier policing, some of the money to pay for these services will have to come from the offender. Consider, this, there are at least 15 thousand motor veh icles in operation on our roads every day, so the possibility of a collisio n is high. Most folk operate their vehicles in a responsible manner, well done to all of you.

  27. Keepin' it Real!...4Real! says:

Please please please let me set driving requirements at TCD…It will guarantee less cars on the roads and those that do aquire a licence can and will be trusted to negotiate simple curves in the roads…Otherwise spend a billion dollars on magnetic rails so dopey people can sleep text or do makeup while traversing our hideous highways.

  28. Hello says:

People need to pay more attention when driving….thank goodness she didn’t hit someone else….the wall can be fixed.

  29. Nikkia says:

The driver was traveling along Middle Road. From what I can understand there was no other vehicle involved. So I am failing to understand what this has to do with the actual intersection.
