May 5, 2016

The Ministry of Public Works said that the remedial work carried to deal with the brown water in Prospect “was completed successfully” and “so far 100 per cent of customers surveyed who were previously receiving brown or very brown water are now receiving clear water to their homes.”

One example of the water some area residents had been experiencing:

A spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works is delighted to inform residents of Cedar Park that the remedial work carried on 28 April 2016 to remedy the discolored water was completed successfully.

“The Ministry is in the process of surveying customers in the affected area to determine its full affect. So far, 100 per cent of customers surveyed who were previously receiving brown or very brown water are now receiving clear water to their homes.

“Crews flushed the trunk main line after work was completed but will also flush the individual distribution branches over the next week or so.”

  1. Say Whaat? says:

I want to see proof! No PR stunts OBA!

    • um just saying says:

      Exactly!

      • Unbelievable says:

If it’s a PR stunt then the residents affected will certainly say something.

        Chill. Paranoid much?

      • Toleratate says:

So…. lie about saying it’s fixed and make the issue worse????? to think the original statement got 8 likes, and YOU in your wisdom to agree got 3 likes???
On a MORE sensible topic; thank you fraternities Alpha Phi Alpha and Kappa Alpha Psi, and sororities Alpha Kappa Alpha and Delta Sigma Theta for supplying water while this issue was being addressed.
Wonder why the Government of the day 6 years ago didn’t think to provide the same services, or address the issue when it was originally reported?
Was THAT when the money started to run out????
        SMH

        • Tina says:

First of all OBA has only been in for 4 years…
This problem has been in existence for over 10 years. It was a PLP problem, and that Government knew of the problem when they were running the country and did nothing about it then…now they want to cast blame on the OBA….

    • Problem Solved says:

You do realize that this problem with brown water has been a problem for about 6 years that the PLP were in power and NOTHING was done.

Now that the problem is being dealt with your problem is with the OBA??? LOL.
6 years the PLP did nothing for them and you have no problem with that at all. 2 years of OBA rule, the problem is being solved by replacing pipes and flushing out lines, and you have an issue?

How much of the $800 Million did you get?

      • Raymond Ray says:

I also agree Problem Solved. Far too many jump to conclusions without getting the facts first :-( Sad yes but soooo true. I personally want to thank you One Bermuda Alliance for,(hopefully)rectifing these well over-due problems :-(

  2. Toodle-oo says:

Not the least bit surprising . A problem going back many , many years is finally rectified but the haters have to come out with the usual negativity .

Very ironic that the only thing that’ll make them happy will lead to the total demise of Bermuda.

    • Unbelievable says:

      Exactly.

    • jt says:

      Flies on the dung pile.

    • Remember says:

The oba said it wasn’t a problem a few weeks ago, so why fix it?

      • Bus Off says:

In order to dispel fears. all they said was that the water was safe to drink, and that claim was tested and backed by the lab tests.. That does not mean that they were recommending that you drink it, or should be okay with the water being Brown! If you had read the statement you would have seen that the problem was being worked on. Should it have been dealt with sooner – absolutely. Question is why did the previous government do nothing about the problem or acknowledge that there was one?

        • Tina says:

Exactly….it was a previous problem that the OBA inherited from the PLP who did nothing about it…

      • Toleratate says:

@ Remember; that’s just an outright LIE… The OBA never said it wasn’t a problem….. An INDEPENDENT Lab was bought in to verify if anyone HAD drank the water would they be in danger…. not an OBA Lab, not a Government Lab, an INDEPENDENT Lab….
I’m NO OBA member; but really… the lies are got to stop before we can move forward… and YES…. from both sides of the House…..
