14-Year-Old Girl Dies Following Traffic Collision

[Updated: Police have confirmed that a 14-year-old girl has died.]

Three people have been injured with one sustaining “serious” injuries in a collision tonight [July 27] located on Palmetto Road at the roundabout near Dock Hill and Frog Lane.

Police Media Manager Dwayne Caines said: “At 8pm Wednesday 27th July 2016, police first responders attended a report of a serious road traffic collision involving two vehicles [car & cycle] at Dock Hill & Palmetto Road, Devonshire.

“At this time, it has been reported that the car is overturned and three persons are injured one seriously.

“The area has been cordoned off and is being processed by the relevant police officers.

“Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen the collision to contact police on 2950011.”

Update 9.38pm: The police have now confirmed the very sad news that a 14-year-old girl has died.

Mr Caines said, “It can be confirmed that a 14-year-old girl has died as result of the collision. The scene is still being processed by the Forensic Support Unit and the Traffic Collision Investigators. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.”

Update 10.03pm: Police originally said she was 12, and have now amended the age to 14-years-old.
