TABS Named Official Olympic Bermuda Shorts

August 5, 2016

The Bermuda Olympic Association [BOA] announced that TABS [The Authentic Bermuda Shorts] have been selected as the official Bermuda shorts for the dress uniform to be worn by the island’s athletes at the Opening and Flag Raising Ceremonies of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

The Opening Ceremonies will be held today [Aug 5]

Team Bermuda will be outfitted with special BOA editions of red TABS, which will be worn with navy blazers and knee socks and white shirts by Bermuda’s athletes as they enter the Olympic Stadium in Rio.

Judy Simons, President of the BOA said, “Team Bermuda always wears traditional national dress at the Opening Ceremonies of both the Summer and Winter Games, and we’ve become known for it. The shorts are iconic and usually gets our team some good TV coverage.

“This year, with TABS, we’re raising our game. Both our ladies and gentlemen will be sporting fashionable, red TABS for the Ceremonies, and everyone is really pleased with the quality and look. I’d like to thank TABS for their partnership.”

Specially embroidered BOA editions of red TABS – the same as those worn by Bermuda’s Olympians – will be available to the public later this summer through the TABS website and at select retail outlets.

Part proceeds of their sale will help fund the BOA, the registered charity responsible for overseeing the development of Bermuda’s elite athletes and their participation at major international sports festivals.

Rebecca Singleton, CEO of TABS, said, “It’s an honour to have been asked to outfit Bermuda’s best athletes on one of the most significant days of their sporting careers, and it’s exciting to know that our authentic Bermuda Shorts will be seen by millions of people around the world when Team Bermuda marches into the stadium.

“Team Bermuda is going to look great.”
