Photos & Results: Football Premier, First Division

St. David’s, Wolves, Paget Lions, Young Men Social Club, X-Roads, North Village Rams, Devonshire Cougars, and Boulevard Blazers all walked away with wins in this past weekend’s Premier and First Division football action.

A total of thirty-four goals were scored over the eight Bermuda Football Association’s Premier and First Division matches on this day. Two games had seven goals in them, while three games were decided by just a single goal.

First: St. David’s 4 BAA 3

At Lord’s in St. David’s, the home team got 2 goals from James Pace and Kontaicf Burton as they held a 4 – 0 lead, but BAA would stage a comeback with goals from Morricko Iris, Marcus Brangman and Tyrell Burgess, they would however fall short of the equalizer.

First: St. George’s Colts 1 Wolves 2

At the Wellington Oval, the visitors Wolves came away with a 2 – 1 victory, Wolves got goals from Lamelle Paynter and Vincent Minors, while St. George’s Colts goal came from Donavan Thompson.

First: Ireland Rangers 1 Paget Lions 3

At Malabar, Paget went ahead through a Robert Richardson goal in the 12th minute, Y’Ron Astwood doubled the lead in the 20th minute, he would hit the back of the net again in the 41st minute to give the Paget Lions a 3 – 0 lead, Kirt Brown would pull a goal back in the 62nd for Ireland Rangers.

First: Southampton Rangers 1 Young Men Social Club 3

Young Men Social Club would come from behind to defeat the Southampton Rangers 3 – 1 at Southampton Oval. Keeron Lewis opened the scoring in the 9th minute for the Southampton Rangers, but Robert Rawlins would equalize for Young Men Social Club in the 34th minute. Young Men Social Club would go ahead when Cory Burgess scored in the 48th minute and then Clay Darrell made it 3 – 1 with a strike in the 81st minute.

First: X-Roads 3 Hamilton Parish 1

At the Garrison Field, X-Roads got their season off to a good start with a 3 – 1 win over Hamilton Parish. After a scoreless first half Jamin Furbert gave X-Roads the lead in the 54th minute, that lead was doubled in the 56th minute when Khomeini Talbot scored, Tareek Webb pulled goal back for Hamilton Parish in the 68th minute, but Rico Beek would restore the X-Road’s two goal lead with a strike in the 80th minute.

Premier: North Village Rams 5 Devonshire Colts 2

At the Bernard Park, the North Village Rams got their Annual Breast Cancer Awareness month campaign off to a flying start with a 5 – 2 win over Devonshire Colts. Deandre Wainwright gave Devonshire Colts a dream start scoring from a cross in the 1st minute, but eleven minutes later it was 1 – 1 when Shayne Hollis converted from the penalty spot. Hollis would give the North Village Rams a 2 – 1 lead when he scored in the 23rd minute and then he would make it 3 – 1 two minutes before the break. In the 47th minute Hollis would accomplish his fourth goal of the game for the second time in a week giving the North Village Rams a 4 – 1 lead, Kyler Knights would extend the North Village Rams lead with a goal in the 79th minute, but Kyle Jones would pull a goal back for Devonshire Colts in the 81st minute to make the final score 5 – 2.

Premier: Dandy Town Hornets 1 Devonshire Cougars 2

At the St. John’s Field, the defending League Champions Dandy Town Hornets have lost for the second game in a row at home, this time to the Devonshire Cougars 2 – 1. The Devonshire Cougars went ahead 1 – 0 in the 11th minute when Machai Butterfield scored, Kijuan Franks converted from the penalty spot in the 27th minute to double the visitors lead. Angelo Simmons pulled a goal back for the Dandy Town Hornets in the 57th minute but they could not find the equalizer.

Premier: Boulevard Blazers 2 Somerset Eagles 0

After a scoreless first half at the Police Field Ian Coke converted from the penalty spot to give the home team Boulevard Blazers a 1 – 0 lead over the Somerset Eagles. Jahmari Samuels would then double the lead as the Boulevard Blazers came away with a 2 – 0 win.
