Dr. Lynette Thomas Speaks On Kidney Disease

March 11, 2017

A packed crowd listened recently at Cafe Lido as Dr. Lynette Thomas informed the audience of physicians about current trends in kidney disease on the island.

At the Bermuda HealthCare Service’s “Docs for Dinner” event, Dr. Thomas revealed that Bermuda had 80 patients on dialysis in 2002, but had seen that total more than double by 2014.

“We have to hope that such a rate of increase will not continue,” she said.

Dr. Thomas, who was Bermuda’s first board-certified nephrologist, also announced that she will be opening a private dialysis center in Hamilton in the very near future.

“Docs for Dinner” is a quarterly event sponsored by Bermuda HealthCare Services and Brown-Darrell Clinic.
