Five Chain Snatching Incidents In Two Weeks

Over the past two weeks, there have been at least five reported chain snatching incidents, taking place in Southampton, Pembroke, Devonshire and Paget, with some of the incidents resulting in the thieves stealing the chains, while in other incidents the would-be victim managed to prevent the theft.

The descriptions of the suspects in the various incidents has ranged from two men on a motorcycle, to two men dressed in all black and riding a black motorcycle, and two men on a black motorcycle wearing full-face dark coloured helmets.

“There have been multiple incidents of chain snatching reported to police this week, and we believe that they are being committed by the same individuals,” the police noted on August 9th.

Chain Snatching In Southampton | August 16

A suspect entered Oleander Cycles in Southampton yesterday afternoon, where “they brandished a knife and scuffle ensued,” with the suspect stealing a chain from the victim before fleeing on a waiting motorcycle.

A police spokesperson said, “It appears that a male employee was in the shop when a suspect entered the shop, brandished a knife and a scuffle ensued.

“The suspect stole a 30 inch chain from around the neck of the victim. He then left on a waiting motorcycle that was ridden by his male accomplice. Both suspects were dressed in all black and riding a black motorcycle.

“The victim in this case did not suffer any apparent injures,” the police added.

Attempted Chain Snatching in Pembroke | August 16

A police spokesperson said, “At approximately 8:45am today, police received a report of an attempted robbery from the male victim on Parsons Road, Pembroke in the vicinity of Happy Talk Lane.

“It appears that a man was riding a motorcycle travelling down Parsons Road when two men on a motorcycle rode next to him and one of the male suspects tried to grab a chain from his neck.

“The victim somehow managed to keep possession of the chain and the suspects then quickly left the area on their motorcycle.”

Attempted Chain Snatching in Devonshire | August 9

A police spokesperson said, “Police are investigating another incident of chain snatching which took place on Thursday 9th August on Barker’s Hill, Devonshire.

“Around 10:45am, a male motorcyclist was traveling in a southerly direction along Barker’s Hill when two men on another motorcycle rode along side him. The two suspects attempted to grab the victims chain before making their escape toward Parson’s Lane, Devonshire.

“There have been multiple incidents of chain snatching reported to police this week, and we believe that they are being committed by the same individuals.”

Two Chain Snatching Incidents in Paget | August 7

A police spokesperson said, “Around 10:00am the male victim was travelling east along South Road, Paget near Stovell Lane, when two men on a motorcycle road alongside victim, grabbing ahold of the chain around his neck. They were unsuccessful in their attempt to take the chain, but were able to make good on their escape, traveling in an easterly direction along South Road.

“The second incident took place just east of Cobb’s Hill, Warwick around 10:20am. The victim, a male tourist headed in a westerly direction came to a stop behind traffic, when two men on a motorcycle also travelling west came alongside the victim and snatched a chain from his neck. The suspects rode onto Cobb’s Hill Road, also making good on their escape.”

    Conscription to the army would help these young men – you can thank those who have no interest in the country for the lack of discipline.

      Hardly, I know for a fact that while I was conscripted there was a number of major crimes that took place & some of those cases involved individuals who were in the regiment at that time. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t force it to drink. You can surround these individuals with as much discipline as you wish but if they aren’t willing to absorb it then it’s all a waste. Conscription has been in place for how many years? Yet crime is still at a high… Think about it

    Are the police lacking as much information about the perps as we the public are being told ?
    A few basic pieces of info would go a long way towards eliminating two thirds of the population.

    I think that one day I’ll try filing a missing person report that simply says ..
    ‘Missing person , last seen wearing black clothing ‘ and see how many dumbfounded looks I get.
