Police: “No Major Incidents” Over Cup Match

Police have reported that there were no major incidents over the Cup Match period noting that there have been nine collisions, four of which resulted in injury, eighteen arrests for different offences and one high speed chase.

Police Media Manager Dwayne Caines said: “As of 9:00 am on Saturday, August 4, 2018, the Bermuda Police Service can report that there were no major incidents island wide.

“We would like to advise the public that the police will continue their highly visible presence on our roads and waterways for the duration of the holiday period. People should obey all waterway and road laws and be reminded that drinking and driving or riding under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is prohibited.

“During the period between Wednesday, August 1st at 11:00pm and Friday, August 3rd at 11:00pm, there were nine collisions and four of those collisions resulted in injury, seven persons arrested for driving under the infuence, two individuals arrested for drugs, nine persons arrested on warrants and one high speed chase.
