Two Students Arrested, One Officer Injured

December 14, 2018

Saying they are “aware of the video footage being circulated” about an incident in Hamilton, the police said “two students are expected to appear before juvenile court in due course.”

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] is aware of the video footage being circulated around social media showing police interaction with a group of students and it is not a complete characterization of everything that took place.

“For context, around 4:10pm Thursday, December 13th Police Support Unit [PSU] officers were on patrol in the City of Hamilton after a report of an altercation involving school students.

“The officers were near Victoria Park when they encountered a 16-year-old male student shouting offensive language. The teen was spoken to about his behaviour, but continued to use offensive language and was arrested.

“Several of his schoolmates then approached as officers attempted to secure the 16-year-old in a police vehicle.

“All officers involved tried to calm the situation. However the students began to get more boisterous and push police, with one student elbowing an officer in the eye, injuring the officer.

“A 15-year-old male student was also detained after attempting to intervene in the first arrest. Both young men were taken to Hamilton Police Station and later released on police bail.

“The injured officer was subsequently treated at the hospital and discharged.

“A file is being prepared regarding the incident and the two students are expected to appear before juvenile court in due course.

“In the coming days the BPS will be liaising with the relevant school officials and parents/guardians of the students involved to minimize a recurrence.”

So you are saying that these young boys should get TM for their actions.

I believe deep down inside you enjoy TM because you can’t stop talking about it.

Perhaps you should try farming to change your mindset!

It’s obvious that your government loves TITTY MILK…since they’re the ones who made it public and associated it with Bermuda.
        Bravo…you munchkins are pathetic.

  4. puzzled says:

And you wonder why Bermuda is so F+)&

Look at the three comments here.

Can you imagine this happening elsewhere?

Would give a new meaning to ‘black eye’.

Time to re-sow folks. Your crops have failed and you have no food.

That failed to mention one Police Officer riding her little bike on the sidewalk into a crowd of students and regular citizens where they had to jump out of the way so she could get to something not even 20 yards away. Too tired or out of shape to run?

    • aceboy says:

My money is on you being one of the parents. Defend bad behavior and you will simply get more of it.

      • Wahoo says:

Reminiscent of the disrespect shown to police a couple years ago, wonder what our so called leaders think about all this.

These are High School chrildren. Where are the parents / guardians? The real root of the problem. Start holding them accountable and responsible for their own lack of parental attention.

Sadly this may be a peek into what the teachers are talking about regarding behaviour in the schools.

  12. Imjustsaying says:

No I’m not one of the parents and please show me where I am defending bad behavior.

    • LaV says:

You’re obviously one of the parents of these criminals, imjustsaying.
Perhaps you should look inward instead of trying to blame everyone else for your failure as a parent….do you even know who the father is?
