St. George’s Christmas Window Display Winners
The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation, in collaboration with the St. George’s Rotary and the Corporation of St. George, announced the winners of the annual St. George’s Window Display Contest, which began on November 30th during the Lighting of the Town Event.
According to BEDC Micro Small & Medium Enterprise Officer, Dennis Carter, “The window competition is a fun way to showcase the creativity of the businesses in the area.
“It’s nice to be able to reward those businesses that make an extra effort to decorate their stores, which helps to improve the festive atmosphere and shopping experience of the town.”
Best Overall Winner, Doreen Williams-James of Bermuda Wild Herbs & Plants, said: “We are thrilled to have won Best Overall in this year’s contest. The holiday season is a great way for us to make the store a beautiful place to visit and shop.”
St. George’s Rotary President Ricki Lee Pitcher said, “I enjoyed my evening with my co-judges as we braved to wind and rain that evening.
“The contestants have done a great job decorating they’re window spaces. It’s a beautiful tradition that I’d love to see more business take interest in. It definitely adds to the Christmas ambience of the ole Town.”
Grotto Bay sponsored the contest by offering a one-night stay at Grotto Bay Hotel for an awardee.
The winners included:
- Most Creative Winner: Davidson’s of Bermuda – winner of the BEDC Trophy and a $500 Cash Prize
- Best Overall: Bermuda Wild Herb’s and Plants – winner of the Rotary Trophy and a $350 cash prize
- The People’s Choice: Saltwater Jewelry – winner of the Mayor’s Trophy and a $200 cash prize.
