Visitors Win Perks By Completing Arrival Card

February 27, 2020

The Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] is surprising visitors to the island who fill out digital arrival cards with complimentary access to local experiences.

A spokesperson said, “A digital arrival card option for inbound passengers has been in place for a year now, and to mark the occasion, the Bermuda Tourism Authority is surprising visitors with spur-of-the-moment on-island experiences.

“Texas friends Araceli Bernal and Deborah Olson were surprised with complimentary tickets to a Bermuda Festival of Performing Arts live dinner show this month after they completed their online arrival card before flying to the island. The Ray Charles-inspired performance at Fairmont Southampton Resort included the Toni Bari Trio as the local opening act.”

Bermuda Tourism Authority COO Karla Lacey, Texas visitors Araceli Bernal and Deborah Olson, and BTA Chief Experience Development Officer Glenn Jones:

“I took the opportunity to fill out the arrival card online to make the process easier when I got to Bermuda,” said Ms. Olson, a sales support specialist from San Marcos, Texas.

“I was unaware that by doing so, I had entered to win VIP tickets to the dinner and show. It was an added bonus and huge surprise, positively adding to my experience in Bermuda. This was my first time to the island, but definitely not my last.”

The spokesperson said, “The BTA is offering spontaneous rewards to bring greater awareness about the digital option, as it provides an opportunity to tailor-market messages to visitors and increase visitor spending—as well as make their arrival process in Bermuda a little easier.”

“The more the online arrival card is used, the more the tourism industry stands to benefit,” said BTA Chief Information Officer Erin Smith.

“Visitors who opt in for communication can receive via email the full scope of events and experiences available to them for the dates they’re on-island. Greater awareness often leads to more rewarding experiences for the visitor and more spending for our economy.”

The spokesperson said, “So far, 683 visitors have completed the online arrival card for future travel in 2020.

“Currently, visitors who fill out the visitor arrival card online at BermudaArrivalCard.com must print it and bring the document with them when they travel. Plans for the next phase will include a paperless option, allowing travelers to show their completed digital form on a smartphone.

“Hoteliers, event planners, business-meeting planners and other tourism stakeholders are encouraged to include a link to the arrival card in their email communications to visitors.”

  2. Eve says:

Wait…wait…..BTA gets this personal information either directly through this online form or from Immigration hard copy and it is passed on to a third party for statistics, surveys, etc. which means it gets passed on to whoever buys it. With all the problems in the world with identity theft, email hacking, etc., etc. and BTA is allowed to collect this information promising to protect it, ridiculous. SMH!
