‘You Go Girl’ Event To Be Held Virtually

April 26, 2020 | 0 Comments

Following the cancellation of this year’s You Go Girl Relay due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the organisers have made the decision to hold a virtual version of the event on June 7.

In an online post, the You Go Girl Relay organisers said, “As you may have heard, the You Go Girl Relay on Front Street on June 7 had been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, we have had a slight change of plans and have decided to hold a virtual You Go Girl event.

“The You Go Girl Relay has always been a running event in the spirit of having fun in support of the Womens Resource Centre. The Womens Resource Centre is experiencing their highest volume of calls at this time of crisis and is in continued need of funding.

“So here’s what we would like for our ladies to do:

  • 2. “On the morning of June 7, pull out an old evening gown or dress and just get dressed to the nines. Have fun with it.
  • 3. “Run any distance you like on the morning of June 7 in your fancy gear. You could run 200 feet or 2k or 10k. It doesn’t matter! We must abide by all government restrictions in place, so if the 0.5 mile radius from your home is still in effect or we can’t be outside at all, run in your backyard or kitchen if you have to. Basically, just run any distance in your fancy dress. This is not a timed event.
  • 4. “Post a picture to the You Go Girl Facebook page.

“We have a wonderful commemorative 2020 stemless champagne glass for each participant. We will figure out a way to distribute them at a later date if restrictions are still in place.

“Proceeds from race entry fees will go directly to the Womens Resource Centre.

“We look forward to working with our wonderful sponsors OIL, U By Kotex, Beyond Fitness, Meyer Group of Companies and Argo on the 2021 event.

“We hope that by holding this virtual event that our ladies still have some good You Go Girl fun and we raise some much needed funds for the Womens Resource Centre!”
