Shooting: Teen Girl No Longer in Critical Condition

April 6, 2010

In a small glint of good news following a weekend that can only be described as catastrophic, the 17 year old girl who was shot at Dandy Town is making improvements.

Bernews understands that medical staff at KEMH may have downgraded her status from critical, and that she is expected to pull through. She was shot four times in the stomach and arms in a shooting the police describe as ‘indiscriminate”.

The other Dandy Town shooting victim, 39 year old Antoine Tuzo, is listed in stable condition on a general ward, as are the two victims from the wave of violence at the RAA Club in St Georges on Easter Sunday. Their injuries are all described as non life threatening.

The Dandy Town driveby shooting was part of a wave of holiday gunfire which saw 4 people shot in only 58 hours, making an average of a person shot every 14.5 hours over the Easter holiday.

Only 21 hours prior to the Dandy Town shooting, one man was shot and another stabbed at the RAA Club in St Georges. 37 hours prior to that, Kimwandae Walker was gunned down in broad daylight at a Good Friday kite flying event, dying in front of his two young children. The holiday weekend also included the road traffic fatality of 26 year old Carlton “CJ” Darrell.
