July 10, 2010

[Updated: Confirmed that one man was shot in leg] The Bermuda Police are presently investigating reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Sound View Road,  making this the third reported gun incident in the West End in the last ten days.

The Police have not yet confirmed the circumstances nor were able to confirm with us whether this was a confirmed firearm incident, however have stated that they have made enquiries and at this stage it appears that possibly no one was injured, although they are still investigating that. We will update with additional info when able.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police on 2950011 or call the confidential Crimestoppers at 800-8477.

Update 3pm: Appears there may have been someone shot, which is unofficial and unconfirmed info…

Update 3:07: Unofficially, it appears that the shooting victim may have transported himself/been transported away from scene, hence initial thoughts no one was shot. This is all unconfirmed and unofficial however and should be taken as such, as we are unable to completely clarify what happened at this early juncture.

Update 3:26pm: In what would be unusual if there was someone shot, there is no visible Police presence at the hospital. Whether that indicates no one was actually shot, or whether it’s a nod to this unusual time of day for a shooting report is unclear.

Update 3:54pm: Although we have yet to get Police confirmation, we understand from credible sources that men on a bike rode up and shot at  individuals in a car, and one man was hit while in the car. The car and victim, we understand were found in Paget. Reports also suggest that one occupant of the car may have returned gun fire at the shooters on the bike. The victim’s injuries are said to be non-life threatening. All unconfirmed and unofficial info…

Update 4:02pm: Police have just now officially confirmed one man has been injured. That was the only official info offered, and we expect further official details from them later.
