Severe US Storm Grounds Bermuda Flight

January 10, 2011

A massive snowstorm in the southern US has brought air traffic to a standstill, leaving thousands of travellers stranded at Atlanta’s airport including passengers booked on Delta’s regularly scheduled Bermuda flight.

While Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport remains open today (Jan. 10), hundreds of flights have been cancelled with many more facing heavy delays.

Delta Airlines cancelled 330 flights when the unusually large storm struck on Sunday, with 1,400 more cancellations expected today.

Delta has advised Bermuda passengers they are entitled to a refund if their flight is cancelled. Passengers may also change they itineraries without being charged a change fee but are advised to do so by January 13

Unusually heavy snowfall is also causing travel nightmares in other parts of the American South including Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, states which rarely experience this type of winter storm.
