  1. Forgive me if this is old news as I live in the US, but: are there police on constant patrol in this part of Pembroke? It appears the vast majority of the shootings take place in this tiny part of town, but I rarely read about shooters being apprehended — surely there should always be a presence?

    • Lissa says:

Well, the police are on constant patrol but it not like the shooters do it front of them. I would say somerset and town are almost even in regards to shootings. Shooters are being apprehended.

  2. Ray says:

I believe there is supposed to be a police presence in that area but I guess they must have been on their break or taking a nap. Who knows.

    • Chart says:

“That area” is about a half mile from Police HQ. But it’s a challenging area to patrol … densely developed with so many little roads, alleys, and getaway exits.

  3. What a Joke says:

It is sad no body takes the Bermuda Police Department seriously at all. They are like toy soldiers.

    • Logic76 says:

Oh these criminals take certain individual officers seriously, believe me. Not the service as a whole though.

  4. Winnie says:

Aww come on guys the Police can’t be everywhere every minute. However I think the way they are deployed lends itself to question. I remember when there was a firearm incident in the same area and there was a police unit fairly close in the vicinity however none of the offices were armed. I think it is time for every patrol unit to have at least 1 officer that is armed. If your have to retreat to a safe distance and wait for the armed unit to respond I think time is just being wasted. Keep working hard BPS, we all know in life nothing is perfect.

  5. were are the cameras says:

For the past 3 years or more most gun incidents has happen in that area. I look round the island now and see cameras at the stop lights in Paget, at Trimminghams Hill round about just to name a few. Why do we not have cameras at some of the most common places were all the gun play has taken place.

    • ok says:

They have Cameras on Court Street too but that doesnt seem to stop them shooting there.

  6. Talk2MeStr8 says:

I wonder when the public is going to wake up and realize that the —- are allowing parkside to kill off 42 and they aren’t going to do anything about it until all of 42 is either dead in jail or in England. There have been 5 members of the 42 family killed not to mention the ones who have been shot an survived. The whole island is just sitting back and taking count. How can you not expect them to not arm themselves for protection after seeing so many of their own shot and killed. Self preservation comes before any law any day of the year!! Even shootings in front of the police and all we get is excuses. Oh the police wasn’t armed so we had to watch and leave them smh..it’s ridiculous!! This isn’t anything new its been going on for over two years now. The reality is that parkside has made it their mission to kill all of 42. I guess you would have them sit around and wait for that bullet or hope the police don’t sit by and watch next time. Maybe you should think about what it must be like to go day to day living on this tiny island knowing that there are those out to kill you. Maybe you would think about the fact that if it was 5 members of your family shot and killed and many others wounded for no reason it wouldn’t have taken you so long to arm yourself or even to retaliate!!

    • BDA says:

please do not make it seem as 42 is innocent………everytime there is a shooting there is someone on here claiming that parkside gets away with this and that. and all 42 is sitting at home.

the only murder that has occured (I AM AWARE OF) with no affiliations to gangs was Colford.

saying that…….it does not seem as if “parkside” is just shooting just to shoot. its all wrong, and anyone found guilty should be accountable. BUT……no one is innocent in this.

      • Peace says:

lets not forgot JR Lawes, M. Martin & Robin Stovell who were gunned down in front of Places place. They had also had no gang affiliations. Actually there have been a few. The JA guy that worked at KEMH who was murdered in crawl.

    • huh? says:

Did you just say they are being shot for no reason?! do u really believe that? And instead of arming themselves why don’t they start telling the cops what they know? U can’t participate in the kind of activity that they are involved with and not expect negative consequences! I get the impression by some Bermudians that they just want these guys to be able to go back to selling their drugs peace. I’m in no way justifying parkside. I beleive that they will also become the victims of the lifestyle that they have chosen. There is inheritant mistrust of everyone in that lifestyle not to mention greed, lust and ruthlessness and sooner or later one of them will turn on the other and they will begin to consume each other. You gotta remember that parkside itself was orginally made up of 3 different gangs from middle town, friswells hill and parkside. There is no rigtheousness on parkside’s side or 42nd or m.o.b. or east side, hamilton parish, warwick etc….they all will fall whether by jail, death, leaving the island, or accepting Jesus. Remember that there is a powerful little scripture in the Bible that says, ” be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap” Right now it looks like parkside is decieving themselves if they think that they can sell drugs, terrorise, and murder without any repercussion. At the end of the day, the same fate that they are dishing out to others will probably be served to them if they don’t come to repentance themselves!

      • BDA says:

sorry you might have mistaken where i was coming from. i am just ******* that 42 people are always on these sites claiming the innocence of anything that goes down. even if they are in court for drug or gun charges……all you see is FREE this person….THEY ARE INNOCENT…..you all are haters…..you dont know whats going on……you aint street wise. all they do is complain about everything, the police, how they are always getting shot at, how the police are always harrasing them….

ok now they have me on here complaining…..oopss

  7. give me a break says:

It’s not realistic to expect the police to have a car parked in that area 24/7. Most likely nothing will happen if they are there, but it may happen somewhere else then people will say the police shoulda been parked there too.
If by chance something happens in front of the police and they are not armed what can you expect them to do? Take a bullet for the intended target? Stand in front of an armed man and ask them to give up in the name of the law? The time seems to be here for the police to have at least one armed officer in each vehicle but even then with a reduced budget for the year I don’t see how they can be expected to park in any given area all day and night without something else being given up.

Maybe cameras in those areas isn’t a bad idea .. just make sure they have bullet proof enclosures!

  8. joe says:

I truly believe that the police should pick one day real early in the morning. Surround the whole area with police. Every alley way every road blocked. Do a total blitz. knock on every door, round up the guns. I do not know anything about if Bermuda has probable cause searches or whatever but do this every now and then. Gotta get serious, right it seems mostly gang on gang but it won’t be long before the populace is going to be targeted.

    • Arthur Raynor - Atlanta says:

Sounds good but not a very practical idea. Even here in the USA the police need a search warrant unless an act was witnessed etc. before they enter a home. Ask yourself how long it would take for 3-4 people to FULLY search just your home alone and then multiple that by hundreds of homes, condo’s and apartments (some with no one at home) in the aforementioned area, and you are looking at days of work.
We need to ‘Stop the Violence’ but in a realistic way.

      • joe says:

Arthur, I understand that but Bermuda has different laws. That is why I asked about what it says in their constitution and bill of rights. Being a British colony different rules may apply.

        • LOL (original) says:

According to PACE recently passed by the Government they can search your house and get a warrent later.

          LOL

  9. Terry says:

From what I have read in the hundreds of comments here and on other threads, this Parkside crew is really dangerous.

Anyone know who they are. The Police should investigate this. These men are being naughty. Um gonna tell their Momma’s.

There will be a Gun Show at the Pemboke Dump Saturday 8am-10am. All are welcome. Sniper rifles are on sale. An associate will be there to show you the latest in the new line of “Across the Pond” weaponry.

    Excuses…..pathetic.
