Pembroke Resident Denies $21,528 Bank Fraud

Fifty-seven year-old Helene Louise Sutcliffe of Fenton’s Drive Pembroke, pleaded not guilty to 15 charges involving fraud, and elected to have the matter heard at Magistrate Courts’ level.

Today [Nov.4], before Magistrate Khomisi Tokunbo, she was charged with five counts involving receiving a total of $21,528.69 from the account of a Butterfield Bank customer. The five incidents were 14 May [$5,000], 25 April [$8,000], 25 May [$3,000], 22 June [$3,528.69] and 6 July [$1,500] –- all in 2011.

She faced ten more charges. Five of making or creating a false letter of authorization, and five more of using that false letter to defraud.

At this hearing she was unrepresented, but was assisted by the Court’s Duty Counsel. Magistrate Tokunbo granted bail of $15,000 with one Surety and ordered her to re-appear for Mention on 25 November. At that time she said that she hoped to have legal representation.

    Silly woman! Hasn’t she been paying attention? You have to get Government to ‘mock up’ a contract and take the money from Government’s account.

    You need to think of Madoff. The PLP Government has been stealing from us since 1998. They seem to get off Scott free.

      yup and for many years the UBP was doing more and the don’t make what PLP did right but act like it started with them.
