Video: 198ft Motor Yacht Docks In St George’s

June 18, 2012

The 198 foot tri-deck motoryacht Areti docked in St George’s this morning [June 18], with a few onlookers gathering to watch the luxury yacht pull up to Ordnance Island.

The Cayman Island flagged vessel launched in 2011, and has seven staterooms which can accommodate 13 guests, as well as nine cabins for 18 crew. The vessel also boasts an elevator with access for all decks, a gymnasium, steam room, hot tub, sauna, multiple Waverunners, skylounge and much more.

It is not clear who owns Areti, although it appears to be owned by the same Russian tycoon who owns two other motor yachts — also named Areti — which were launched in 2007.

The other two have a similar design, are 127 ft long, and are reported to be identical with the exception of some interior artwork.

According to Charter World the Areti yachts are owned by a Russian who chose to build two identical yachts and base one in the Mediterranean and one in America due to business interests in each location.

Areti is said to have a maximum speed of approximately 19.0 knots, a range of 4,350 nautical miles at 10 knots, with a fuel capacity of 28,000 gallons. For more information read the launch statement [PDF] from Trinity Yachts.

  6. The nitty gritty says:

This is exactly what the Govt needs to encourage in St.Georges to stimulate some growth .
Dockyard got its share of overpriced ship berths and it’s time to invest in the other end,
you remember, the WORLD HERITAGE SITE.
A far prettier scene and sheltered harbour for the rich and spendy to stop off in.
But where’s the stimulus, where’s the leadership?
It’s all about the foreign exchange M.P.s and your ability to stop looking for how it will benefit you
    but benefit everyone.
Watch how badly they decide and move, guaranteed.

It’s funny that whenever there is a major event in St. George that all of a sudden the press notice these things.

There are almost constantly these mega yachts in St. George and sometimes two or three at a time.

This has nothing to do with the Bermuda Government, but is due to the hard work and investment of Mark Soars of Bermuda Yacht Services who are registered mega yacht agents and also manage the town docks on behalf of the Corporation of St. George. Please don’t let the Bermuda Government get involved with this and screw it up too as private business is key to any success in this regard, and are much more professional and efficient.
