I guess the bank overdraft to Government was a little late coming through.

I thought Col. Burch was going to introduce an English language competency test. Maybe that was just for expats.

This is one of the many signs of a business going under, holding the staffs pay til the last minute. This is a scary situation!

I served on a jury 4 months ago. Still waiting on Govt to pay me for that. 4months! I am beginning to think I should just wait 4 months before paying my land tax and see how Govt likes it.

  9. stupid comments says:

It’s scary how stupid some of these comments are. It is so easy for a payroll to be late, as there are so many moving parts to ensure it gets it done on time. I believe most people had their money by the end of day on the 28th… CRISIS AVERTED. Geesh!

    • Family Man says:

“most people” just doesn’t cut it.

And “end of the day” is useless when you have to pay rent, Belco, utility bills etc. The banks won’t let you pay your bills until they see that government payroll transfer actually in the account. If the funds don’t get there until long after the bank has closed for the day, that’s not much good. Now they’re going to be hit with late payment fees because they couldn’t get their bills paid on time.

Try making your payroll tax return a bit late and see how forgiving government is. meh… you’ve probably never run a business, you know, where things actually have to be paid on time.

Why is it the plp seem to stumble from one crisis to the next?

  10. stupid comments says:

To clarify… Family man… I have never lived from paycheck to paycheck and I therefore ensure I have a cash cushion in the event that anything goes wrong. e.g. late payroll. I understand that this is not everyone’s situation, obviously, but my point is that errors happen, mistakes happen, delays happen and this situation was clearly all of the above.
