i always thought we are British…isn’t the Caribbean more than a thousand miles away

    • Autumn Fire says:

@ Will: Oh, be quiet Will!

Canada just celebrated their Thanksgiving yesterday, and we all enjoyed the exciting 4th of July Independence Day celebrations with our American residents back in July, and the Portuguese also celebrated recently – so, what ya have to say ’bout that!

All cultures’ heritage celebrations in Bermuda is a beautiful thing and wonderful opportunity for us to come together in Bermuda. It would be nice to see us even come together during our 24th of May Bermuda Day Parade.

Last time I checked in Britian there is a diversity of cultures celebrated and represented – did you not see the Olympic Ceremonies?!

So, Will you get it together…

Great job Culture Affairs and West Indian Association – Front Street block party next year and seat Will in the grandstand!

    • mixitup says:

Hate to Break it to you Will But the Majority of the population trace their ancestory to the Caribbean not Britain. So please don’t try to “Brainwash” anyone like your ancestors tried to do. Have you ever been to Carnival in Trinidad? You’ll be surprised at the Hundreds of Bermudians you see there embracing their culture, so give it a break!

    • W.S.F. says:

@will You know people like you sicken me you’ll try so hard to bash the caribbean and brain wash people who don’t know no better but the truth is the majority of Bermudians are of Caribbean descendants thats fact. Its still closer than Britain will ever be we have more in common with them that we will ever have with britain so i fail to see what your point is exactly other than the fact you’ve tried to distract people who are enjoying them selves and have come across as quite ignorant and stupid. When will you’ll give this dam bashing a brake, Were part of it weather you like it or not.

And Canadian Thanksgiving is tomorrow – just sayin’

all looks preety but Bermuda as small as it is needs to celebrate its own combined culture, we are trying to assert ourselves on the world stage and it does become very confusing whether people from the Carribean, Canada, or U.S.A. are celebrating we need to stop adapting everyone else and decide who we are because they ceertainly aren’t adpoting us!!!Have you ever heard of a Bermuda celebration in Jamaica or any part of the Carribean, and when it comes to USA they would’nt even allow us to give away our fishcakes when we attended Washington to promote our tourism..So lets get real, we have over 70 countries represented in Bermuda and none of them recognize us in their country, besides Phillipines who now have a little Bermuda village where there are pastel coloured houses..awwwwwwwwwwe..It does look very colorful though and most of them do, however Bermuda needs to take a cur from these other countries..We are not yet independent so why are we constantly promoting everyone but ourselves especially when it comes to culture..letss grow up!!

I agree with MEOW – Might as well lift the anchor and drift about 1,000 miles south. Sheesh. It’s embarrassing.
