Fire Breaks Out At Ord Road Laundromat

[Updated] A fire broke out at the Ord Road Laundromat this afternoon [Jan 11]. Multiple fire vehicles and personnel responded to the scene. As of 2.30pm the fire was under control and firefighters remained on scene. The interior of the building appears to have sustained fairly serious damage, and it does not appear anyone was hurt. We will update with more information as able.

Update 4.21pm: The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service said: “At 2:15 pm BFRS received a 911 call reporting a strong smell of smoke in an area at Ord Road Warwick.

“A second caller confirmed smoke issuing from the Commercial Laundry at #54 Ord Road Warwick. No one was at the property at the time.

“Two firefighters in breathing apparatus quickly brought the fire under control before it was completely extinguished. There were no reported injuries and the incident is being thoroughly investigated.”
