Over 135 Children Register For Pee Wee Cricket

April 2, 2013

DSC_0910Over 135 children registered to play over the five week Pee Wee “Have-a-go” cricket program, which is run free with the support of Tokio Millennium Re.

During the session, the players were introduced to the basics of cricket with the main aim of having fun. Coaches, including the National Academy U15 and U19 players worked with the players on learning the basics skills of catching, bowling and batting with the aim of playing a game in the last session. On the last day parents were invited to participate with their children in a game of continuous cricket.

Bermuda Cricket Board President Lloyd Fray said, “On behalf of the Board, I am extremely pleased to see that this program continues to be fully subscribed for its sixth successive year! The Pee Wee Cricket program provides a valuable foundation for the players who go on to play in the Tokio Millennium Re 8&Under League. I would encourage the parents to register your child with a team so that they can continue to develop the skills learnt from the Pee Wee Cricket Program.”

The 8&Under league runs every Saturday from 9.30-11.00am at the National Sports Centre, North Field and starts on April 13, 2013.
