Court: Man Remanded After Assaulting His Wife

July 25, 2013

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [July 25], Stuart Lottimore was remanded into custody following his plea of guilty to unlawfully assaulting his wife and damaging her glasses.

According to the evidence read in by Crown Prosecutor Nicole Smith, while on a bus that she was riding home from work, his wife had seen another woman entering her husband’s car during the mid-afternoon earlier this month on Middle Road in Warwick.

Getting off the bus at a nearby bus stop, she confronted her husband with this information.

In a subsequent Police interview, Lottimore admitted that this had resulted in him telling his wife to: “Call the cops. I want them to see me punch you, b—h. You think you’re in Jamaica? Call the cops.”

Seeking to explain his actions, Lottimore told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that on 19th July, his wife had accused him of carrying on with another woman.

He told the Magistrate that she had grabbed a pair of scissors and had stabbed him in the arm and had cut his face. He also told the Magistrate that he had told his wife that he had not slept with the other woman.

He told the Magistrate: “I want a divorce. I can get plenty of women. I’ve got six children.”

Continuing, Lottimore said that he did know the second woman but that she had a boyfriend. He told Magistrate Warner that on one occasion he had used a garden hose to douse the woman in order to get her away.

The Senior Magistrate described Lottimore as a “bully” and ordered a Social Inquiry Report that was expected to be ready in six weeks. The Magistrate remanded Lottimore into custody until 12 September.

So…your wife is riding the bus and you are picking up another woman in your car. Oh…ok. And ya got 6 kids…so wha??

    • Leo says:

That’s what I was going to say. Got the wife riding the crowded bus while the side piece is riding in style…damn that’s rough…

  2. Joonya says:

“I can get plenty of women. I’ve got six children.”

So he used his children as example that he can get women…presumably 6..
And then this becomes “OUR” problem in the future. Shake My F*&$% Head people

  3. Bda Live says:

Wife on bus…non-wife in car….smh. and you have 6 kids you brag about. nice – as long as you take care of them. Because having children does not a man make – especially a ‘man’ that assaults women – and ESP his wife…and what’s up with dosing the woman (to be clear -not your wife??) with a hose…but why though? for her to get away…?…from? oh dear what a web is weaved.

  6. JUST A SUGGESTION says:

I hope that this does not give her automatic rights to stay in Bermuda, send her home if they get a divorce. We have too many marriages that do not last and the import gets a right to stay and be treated with the rights as locals.

Sorry the marriage did not work, but who wants to marry a small minded man with 6 children, he probably does not even support them

    • Tommy Chong says:

Its a wonder how this is allowed to happen. Other countries would have the couples in different rooms grilling them about the others favorite dish & the names of their aunties here you walk into the registrar, sign, get a brief swearing in, sign some papers & bam you’re married. There’s absolutely nothing in place to stop marriages of convenience then again if you speak out about it you get pegged as a racist for speaking the truth. You have to be married ten years to applied for status here but you can divorce in two years of marriage & get it. Not saying this case was a marriage of convenience but it could possibly be & if it was it would be a good example of why immigration should be more vigilant for societies sake. I sympathies for the woman but before you marry someone you should know the better & worse of them & if you do then as the saying goes, “As you make your bed, so you must lie in it.”

      • Watching On says:

Tommy Chong and JUST A SUGGESTION, while I do understand your points, you do realize that many foreigners who come here, sometimes meet their Bermudians spouses right here in Bermuda while working or even visiting. The funny thing is, their friends do not tell the soon bride to be about their mates abusive past. All you will hear is nothing but praise from friends and family alike, but how he is a good boy yada, yada and how the ex did him wrong. He is often made out to be a Mr. Can Do No Wrong.

You can investigate all you want, no one will have anything negative to say about it. But lo and behold soon after the wedding gifts Re packed away, and things gets too cozy, then the new bride will sooner or later find out what type of man she married. Don’t believe me, just ask the Center Against Abuse.

The minute the foreigner start reaching out for support, that is when the tide turns and the foreign spouse gets calls all kinds of name for making it seems like they were the one at fault. That’s why there is so much ill within society these days. As long as friends and family cover up the bad, the individual will never get help and the cycle will continue.

As for Immigration, of course I am sure the wife will be sent off the island, it matters not to them, that she is the victim of abuse, they have to protect their Bermudian abuser at any cost so he can repeat the same thing with another woman. Her worst crime, putting it out there that he is an abuser. She won’t be the first to get that treatment.

Send HER home? Send Mr. Nutley on his way!

  7. A.Little. says:

….I hope the child support for the 6 children is up to date… the judge should have asked !!

  8. Truth is killin' me... says:

Lottimore…you’re one shilling shy from a pound bruddah!

  9. Nuffin but da Truth says:

He reminds me of something I sometimes step on in the street,it smells and comes out the rear end of dogs.

  10. Johnny says:

You need to watch where you are walking.

  11. NeedsASpankin' says:

HAHAHA..LMAO…’I want a divorce. I can get plenty of women. I’ve got six children.’

Yeah, maybe a woman who is hard up for a man!! What woman in her right mind would want a LOSER like him!

To his wife..get a divorce..good riddance to bad rubbish!

  12. ABM says:

So why was he remanded into custody again?? Waste of money putting this guy in jail.

    • seriously says:

So he doesn’t beat his wife again or even worse kill her.

    • Tommy Chong says:

Because someone who abuses their spouse is apt to abuse anyone they feel superior to if they get them vexed. Hopefully he hasn’t instilling this lack of virtue into his children. Protecting society from violent people is never a waste of money.

What I feel is a waste of money & hypocritical is putting those convicted of selling harmful substances in prison. It’s a persons choice to wether or not they put something harmful in their body. Police don’t arrest bartenders, cigarette sellers or kfc workers who sell greasy buckets of heart attacks.

  13. BermudaGirl says:

Stuart, I don’t think you will be getting ANY woman in her right mind or worth having in Bermuda! What a creep you are! Your wife takes the bus, while you are with another woman in mid-afternoon, you abuse your wife, hose your woman on the side, verbally abuse your wife, and then actually believe that you are God’s gift because you have 6 children!!! Animals can do THAT in 20 seconds or less. Ugh! Loser!
