I’m pleased to see that the C of H has been so expedient to deliver the promised support to “back of town” priorities- how long has this wall been in this state – 6 months ??

    • Raymond Ray says:

That nest egg they had should have/could have been used here months ago but that trip to the, “all black Mayors meeting” proceeded it. Now we know where the CoH priorities are :-(

  2. Eyeout says:

    Woodbourne are Engineers not Architects

  3. Scaoalsy says:

2 months, not bad considering it’s been 6 months on the Paget sidewalk SO FAR and still NO end insight.

    • Not Surprised says:

This is a CofH project, Paget wall is a Gvmt W&E project. One has nothing to do with the other.

    • Wait Your Turn says:

The Northshore sidewalk (near gov gate) took at least 6 months and still isn’t finished as there is still rubble, equipment and materials on-site. Why government still even entertains the idea of having the Dept of Watching & Earning build anything is a mystery to me. The work is rarely ever done well, never done quickly and much higher than private contractors would charge.

    Hi

  5. realist says:

This is Corporation of Hamiltons property and they will have it fixed in a few months by a contractor. If it were a Govt job, those long winded, crooked wall builders will still be there this time next year with an incomplete wall that looks like a bunch of children had played with mortar and some block. Examples of their atrocious work can be seen at St Josephs Church in Somerset and the sidewalk on North Shore near Government House. If you dare complain, they only run to the BIU, who uphold their slow and shoddy work.More of these types of Jobs should go out to tender, on/under budget, on time and good workmanship, an example of which is the wall at Devon Springs Road.

  6. Contractor says:

The COH are more interested in attending conferences in Colombia, than fixing the streets of a Hamilton,go figure!

  7. Keep ya head up fam says:

    Par-la-vile ?

  8. Y-Gurl says:

Beneviedes needs to shut his mouth and let the process take place, he certainly gets no applause given the length of time it took him to get off his a## and do something about this situation in the first place!

  9. Common Sense says:

To be fair to the COH there is no way that the wall and its foundations are Corporation property. There is no way that the COH owns Dellwoord School or any of its walls. What is COH property is the sidewalk and the public roads surrounding Dellwood School.

When the wall collapsed it took a portion of the sidewalk with it so it could be argued that it was their responsibility to repair the sidewalk. It’s probably taken a few months to sort out who exactly is responsible for these repairs and the decision has been made to share the costs.

I would be interested to know if “realist” or “Y-Gurl” can confirm to us if the wall is on COH property or if it was built by the owners of Dellwood School.

In any event, blaming Benevides for “not getting off his a### is just plain ridiculous. He doesn’t click his fingers and commit the Corporation to that sort of expense without full permission of the elected members. If anyone is to blame at the COH for not getting off their a####s then it would be the Mayor and Members who claim to have the best interests of North Hamilton as a major priority. Perhaps a statement from the Mayor would clear this up the issue of ownership and responsibility.

    • Tolerate says:

Interesting observation; is this somewhat similar to the collapsed wall on Palmetto Road?
This particular wall and its foundation are on school (Government) property; however the constantly travelled road that has caused its collapse is COH.
So the wall and it’s foundation on Palmetto road is on Private Property; however the constantly travelled road that has caused its collapse is Government.
Are you saying the home owner (as Government) should foot the bill for the repairs?
      Just a question….
In such areas where part of the wall is below the existing road and actually aiding as support (for the same road that the public enjoys use of; and by the way pay TCD to keep in proper order) is the owners responsibility?

      • Tolerate says:

And YES, I seriously believe this has been the hold up as has the wall on Palmetto Road.
In one case a broke Government expecting a home owner to sure up a wall supporting their main road; and in this case a broke COH expecting Government to foot the bill for a wall supporting their main road.

      • ABM says:

Did you read what was written? No where in the above is common sense insinuating what you are asking.

    • CommonSensenBda says:

The Mayor is not allowed to speak without the the permission of Alderderman Carlton what-is-his-name. Didn’t you pay attention for the last two “press conferences”?

  10. Time Shall Tell says:

Can we now come to some solution for Palmetto Road??
