Nahki Wells Goal Turns $6 Bet Into $63,000 Win

January 13, 2014

The whole island was thrilled by Nahki Wells goal scoring exploits on Saturday, however our level of excitement was probably eclipsed by the joy experienced by two overseas football fans who placed £3.50 [$6.00] worth of bets and made almost £40,000 [$65,000] thanks to Wells game-winning goal.

After signing with new club Huddersfield Town on Friday [Jan 10] for a record breaking transfer fee that exceeded £1. 2 milion [$2 million], the 23 year old Bermudian made his debut on Saturday coming on in the second half during Town’s game against Millwall.

With the score leveled at 0-0, Wells broke the deadlock in the final seconds of the game, firing home his first goal for his new team, earning them the win and marking his first ever goal in the Championship League.

Wells goal thrilled practically the entire island as well as Huddersfield Town fans, however it’s likely these two winning football fans may be the happiest of them all.

One person scooped just over £20,000 [$33,000] from a £1 [$1.65] stake, while the second person bet £2.50 [$4.12] and ended up taking home just under £18,000 [$29,600].

According to English online betting website Paddy Power, “Two Paddy Power online customers are waking up today in a happier place than the rest of us.

“One punter scooped just over £20,000 from a 14-team football accumulator and a £1 stake. The second fella punted £2.50 to bring home just under £18,000 from a 17-team acca.

“Obviously, you need an incredible amount of luck for these kind of bets to come in. Well, these guys got it.

“Both customers had Huddersfield in their accas and have to thank substitute Nahki Wells after his 90th-minute goal sealed a 1-0 win against Millwall.”
