    Sad all around.

  2. Bermuda Boy says:

I’m sorry Mr. Tannock but at age 81 it may be better for you and others around that age to be using public transport. This will save the elderly from going through life with a clean record only to find they now are now treated like criminals. Yes I know I’ll be in this position in the near future but it may save me from the same fate.

    • Infidelguy says:

What an ignorant comment. You don’t even know the circumstances surrounding the incident. Who are you to say that people in their 80′s should use public transport? I know people in their 80′s who are more than capable of driving a car safely. If you ask me, some if these younger drivers need to be taken off the roads.

      • ABM says:

I think you are right concerning the young drivers. But concerning the elderly, I think a mandatory yearly test, purely for lucidness and awareness, should be given to them. All for road safety sake of course.

  3. CommonSense says:

They should be charging whatever person down at TCD that renewed his license!

  4. Fountain of Youth says:

Causing grievous bodily harm is not due to traffic accidents, and I cannot believe the judge would associate the two together, especially seeing as this is an elderly man of old age who could be someone’s grandfather. We all know nobody that age drives wreckless on purpose, and he probably made an alleged mistake like most elderly drivers do. Everyone drives a little more cautious around the elderly drivers, it is part of the circle of life.
But for a judge to leap on saying it is grievous bodily harm puts it into the category of assault, and this is ludicrous. Unless that old man allegedly intentionally drove into someone as some assassination attempt, this charge is ludicrous and slanderous.

    • ABM says:

Right path, but wrong comment. Not the judge but the prosecution.

    • Suzie Quattro says:

The law applies to us all, mate. Allegedly driving without due care and attention and seriously injuring someone as a result, is a criminal offence.
You don’t get ‘let off’ just because of your age.
