Area MP Welcomes Barrier Replacement

September 10, 2014

“The news that the Minister of Public Works has finally taken action and replaced the barrier at Tribe Road Number 1 in Southampton is certainly welcomed by the people of the area,” area MP Zane DeSilva said this evening [Sept 10].

“Safety is always the primary concern and it is our hope that the tragedy that sparked the removal and replacement of the barrier will inform decisions going forward to better serve the safety and well being of all Bermudians.

anything to gethis name in the media…PATHETIC!
the former barrier was there for years and you didnt do a dam thing.
Typical, you open your mouth and in goes your foot.

  2. Ok Zane. How about you tackle the roads that need paving, lights that need fixing, wall repairs, tree felling. Or are you just for show. Like a once every few years santa claus. And public works is a joke. A division that should be outsourced. It really took months to weld a single bar across the middle. I hate to say it. But why do people only lift a finger after someone is seriously injured or death. Prevention is better than cure!!!!

So concerned with safety yet, did we see him send a crew up there and put up a new barrier? I’m sure he could’ve afforded to foot the bill for a new barrier in the name of safety for the constituents he cares so much about.

Don’t see why a new barrier was needed… simply could’ve welded a piece of pipe or two across the old barrier.
