End-To-End Invites Charities For 2015 Event

October 28, 2014

The Bermuda End-to-End is inviting local charities to apply for support from its 28th annual event, which is scheduled for May 2, 2015.

A spokesperson said, “In 2015, the funding focus will be on the Bermuda family, with all proceeds going towards supporting and strengthening the Island’s family-based programmes, projects and/or operating expenses. Funds raised in the 2015 event will be given to four to five Bermuda charities only.”

“We believe that resilient families are the foundation of a strong, healthy community,” said Anne Mello, chair of the End-to-End Charitable Trust, which organizes the event.

“Many members of our Bermuda families are struggling with enormous challenges, so significant funds from the proceeds of the Catlin End-to-End event can make a real difference in helping them to get through these tough times.

“Each year, over 2,500 participants get into the true spirit of the Catlin End-to-End event and work hard to raise funds that solely support Bermuda charities. Over the event’s 27 years, close to $5 million has been given to local charities.”

Applications for support in 2015 are invited to address one of the following areas:

  • Seniors – Basic needs (food, shelter, clothing) and support services
  • Youth – Enrichment opportunities to help overcome negative social issues
  • Families – Support services for physical and emotional trauma

“Submissions must come from charities registered in Bermuda, which are not affiliated with any religious or other sectarian group and serve the local community. They must also provide complete financial statements.

“Submissions must clearly define the issue selected, describe the relevant solution that will be implemented should the application be successful, and be able to measure and identify the impact or outcome that the funding will have on the Bermuda community.”

“Submission budgets should be based upon a $50,ooo-$65,000 allocation. Funding will be distributed in three equal payments: 15 June, 15 September and 15 December 2015, and a progress report will be required before the final two payments are released.

“Charities wishing to be considered must download and complete the official application form from the End-to-End’s website and return it to the charity by November end of business hours Friday, November 7.

“The Catlin End-to-End event is organised by the Bermuda End-to-End Charitable Trust’s Board, and is supported by numerous local sponsors and individual event participants.”

It would be nice to see the Salvation Army get some of those funds. Certainly like what they do for the community all year around.
