New Building Codes Come In Effect Next Month
The Department of Planning said they wish to remind the public that the new Bermuda Building Code comes into effect on January 12th, 2015.
A spokesperson said, “The code adopts a number of additional codes including the Bermuda Residential Building Code [2014] and the International Building Code [2012] as the commercial code. The codes are available to view on the Department of Planning website.
“The new codes will affect all new building permit applications for residential and commercial developments. Everyone from the architectural and design community to the general public will now have to ensure their applications conform to the new codes.
“Importantly, those in the design and construction fields are advised that the Commercial Codes are for sale and download directly from the IBC website. The Bermuda Building Code 2014, which contains the local amendments and the Residential Building Code, is available for download directly from the Department’s website.
