Groups Launch “Shoebox Drive” For Patients

December 15, 2014

Three groups — Art on the Town, Giving in Bermuda and Helping Out in Bermuda — have launched a Shoebox Drive for 120 patients at KEMH in their Extended Care Unit as well as patients at Agape House.

A spokesperson said, “We are appealing for participants/donations or shoeboxes filled with goodies for these patients. Location for drop-offs will be announced closer to the time.

“Ideas for boxes: Socks, wooly hats or scarves, sugar-free candy, nuts or any other healthier treats. Hot chocolate powder, a new coffee mug, writing paper and envelopes or cards, board games like puzzles [if you buy a puzzle you don't have to do a shoebox, just wrap the puzzle up].

“Also, new alarm clock, body cream, toothbrush and paste, pencils or pens, something cute and funny, crossword or word search books, magazine, book to read or whatever else you would think of giving your granny, grandpa.”
