The Ministry of Community, Culture and Sports will host the Sixth Bermuda Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Sunday, 7 December at Fairmont Southampton.
Premier Michael Dunkley will preside over the official induction of the ten sportsmen and administrators. In keeping with tradition, the inductees’ names are revealed at the ceremony.
Minister of Community, Culture and Sports Wayne Scott said, “It is certainly an honour to recognize these superior athletes and administrators for the contribution to Bermuda sports.”
Minister Scott added, “As outlined in the 2014 Throne Speech, Government is committed to establishing a permanent location for the Sports Hall of Fame to capture sporting history and the achievements of the great athletes who populate The Hall of Fame.”
The most recent Sports Hall of Fame was held in 2009. To date, 48 sports heroes have been inducted. The ten sportsmen to be inducted on Sunday represent football, cricket, golf athletics and track and field.
Tickets to the black tie event are $100 and available at the Department of Youth Sport and Recreation, Craig Appin House, 8 Wesley Street Hamilton. The ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Amphitheatre at Fairmont Southampton.
