New Residential Valuation List Being Prepared
The Land Valuation Department said they “would like to advise the public that under the provisions of the Land Valuation and Tax Act 1967, a new Valuation List is required to be prepared to take account of changes in rental levels throughout the Island since the current Valuation List was last prepared on 31st December 2009.”
“The next revaluation is due on 31st December 2015. As part of the revaluation process, the Department must collect information about properties, including data on rents in order to prepare the new 2015 Valuation List,” a spokesperson said.
“The Department recently began sending out the residential rental survey forms to all land taxpayers on the Island and included with the forms is a prepaid return envelope. The forms should be completed and returned to the Department within 21 days from the date of receipt.
“Please check your forms carefully as every form sent out will have the assessment number, specific to the valuation unit but may not include the name of the building or apartment.
“If your form does not include the building or apartment name, please visit the Department’s website at www.landvaluation.bm or call 297-7964 to confirm the unit name to which the assessment number on the form relates. The unit name, as shown on the website, should then be hand written clearly on your form.
“It is important that this check is undertaken because each form is unique to a specific unit in the Valuation List identified by the assessment number, unit name and address. Please see the example below.
“For any assistance with the forms please call 297-7964 or take your forms to the Land Valuation Department, which is located on the second floor of Global House, 43 Church Street, City of Hamilton, where a member of staff will be happy to assist you.
“The Department would like to thank all land taxpayers in advance for their cooperation. The information collected will be treated as confidential and will only be used for the purpose of the revaluation.”
