Foreign Nationals Charged: Cash Possession

March 18, 2015

Two foreign nationals appeared in Court today [Mar 18] facing charges involving allegedly possessing cash and a Rolex watch which they knew were the proceeds of crime.

Jeff Bajayo and Eli Bajayo were initially charged earlier this month, and re-appeared for a bail hearing in this morning’s Plea Court. Both had spent the previous week on remand as neither man had met the bail condition that required $15,000 plus a surety.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo set new bail at $30,000 each but no surety. The pair must also notify police of their address and any changes; report to Southside Police Station every Monday and Friday; surrender their travel documents and not leave this jurisdiction. The Magistrate agreed that their personal credit cards should be returned to them so that they could sustain themselves.

The pair, who were described as Israeli-Americans, were previously charged with possessing $11,103 in cash which they knew were the proceeds of crime. Jeff Bajayo alone was charged with possessing a Rolex watch said to be valued at $23,900 and that had been purchased with cash, which was known by him to be the proceeds of crime.

Because the offences are indictable, neither man was required to enter a plea.
