Videos: Miss Bermuda Contestant Introductions

This year’s Miss Bermuda Pageant will take place on July 5, with the judges set to select the 2015 Miss Bermuda. In addition to the top title, there will be other titles awarded, including the People’s Choice winner, which will be selected by the public via voting on Facebook.

In order to help the public to decide on their vote, videos of each of the contestants have been released by the Miss Bermuda Pageant organisers, with each contestant outlining her goals and intentions.

Miss Warwick – Tamara Bradshaw

Tamara Bradshaw, 24, attended Warwick Academy, where she graduated with her IB Certificate, before moving on to Bermuda College for brief studies in Film and Psychology before attending Full Sail University in Florida, where she graduated with her Bachelors of Science degree in Entertainment Business in 2011.

Currently, Ms. Bradshaw works for the City of Hamilton as the Event and Marketing Coordinator, a position she’s held since 2013. She recently completed the BHI Blue Flag and Bermuda Tourism Ambassador programs and obtained her Certified Tourism Ambassador certification, along with completing the Appleby Bermuda Day Half Marathon.

Miss Paget – Kayla S. Williams

Kayla S. Williams is 17-years-old and currently attends Bermuda College in the Culinary Arts program, following a homeschool education lead by her mother.

She has also been an In Motion School of Dance senior company member, a Duke of Edinburg team leader, a junior youth group animator, a Youth Camera Action photography camp instructor at Bermuda National Gallery, and the valedictorian at her high school graduation at age 16.

Miss Devonshire – Kathryn O’Connor

Kathryn O’Connor will be 18-years-old in July and recently graduated from Saltus Grammar School. She’s been accepted to Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Canada, where she will study Business, majoring in Finance, with the undergraduate program commencing this fall.

At Saltus Grammar School, Miss O’Connor represented her school internationally in soccer and field hockey, served on the school production team, was named a Vice-Captain, Champion Girl, House Captain, and Prefect, and made the Headmaster’s Honour Roll. Subsequently, she has performed as a dancer with the Jackson School of Performing Arts, received a Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, modeled, and received a Community Service Certificate from the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

Miss Southampton – Brittany Maderios

Brittany Madeiros is 18-years-old and currently attends Saltus Grammar School. Her achievements include dancing since she was 3-years-old, working with the Evolution Hair Show, and winning a drama award in school.

Asked why she entered the Miss Bermuda Pageant, Miss Madeiros said, “I chose to commit myself in the Miss Bermuda Pageant because I found a great opportunity for improvement in myself. I would be able to improve my confidence and be able to have the ability to gain lifetime skills such as interviews and speaking in front of an audience.”

Miss Smiths – Alyssa Rose

Alyssa Rose is 22-years-old and, following her primary and secondary education at Bermuda High School, went on to study a Foundation Degree in Art and Design at the University for the Creative Arts Canterbury.

Miss Rose is currently studying for a Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing [CIM]. Additionally, she is working as a Senior Lifeguard for the Bermuda Lifeguard Service, as well as a part-time waitress at Madhatters Restaurant and The Tempest Bistro.

Miss Pembroke – Ligaya Sanchez-Wilson

Ligaya Sanchez-Wilson is a 24-year-old internationally board-certified Medical Laboratory Scientist at the Department of Pathology at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, who attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines.

The pageant finals will take place Sunday July 5th, at the Fairmont Southampton where the reigning Miss Bermuda, Lillian Lightbourn will crown her successor.     Any one of you ladies would make a wonderful Miss Bermuda and I’m very impressed at how articulate and poised you all are. Your beautiful personalities really shine through in these videos and I’m sure win or lose you will all continue to be positive role models and ambassadors for Bermuda.
