Court: Man Used Stolen Card To Buy Liquor, Food
Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [April 28], a 67-year-old man admitted stealing someone’s debit card and using it to obtain cigarettes, liquor, orange juice and food.
Granville Gilbert admitted that he stole another man’s wallet and used the debit card that was in the wallet to dishonestly obtain goods from shops.
Mr Gilbert used the stolen card to buy a pack of cigarettes from one store, he then obtained a small bottle of Smirnoff vodka and some orange juice from another store, food from a salad bar, as well as a flask of Bacardi Gold.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo asked Mr Gilbert if he was working and could he explain his actions. Mr Gilbert replied that he was intoxicated at the time.
The Magistrate ordered a Social Inquiry Report, set sentencing for 21 June, and granted bail at $2,000.
