Public Accounts Committee Meeting: Thursday
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Public Accounts will conduct a Public Hearing at 2.30pm on Thursday [May 26] at St. Paul’s AME Church Centennial Hall in Hamilton.
“The Standing Committee has invited the Financial Secretary to provide information regarding procedures currently in place within the Ministry of Finance for managing compliance with Government’s Financial Instructions,” a spokesperson said.
“The Committee expects to query the FS about compliance procedures and any available register of breaches of Financial Instructions over recent years. In addition, the Committee’s standing request for the provision of further details on the Airport Development Agreement and related Schedules remains in place.
“The Standing Committee has also invited the Hon. Derrick Burgess, JP, MP to the meeting to provide his observations on matters raised in the Auditor General’s recent Report on the Consolidated Fund for the Financial Years ended 31st March, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
“The Public Accounts Committee is comprised of Members of Parliament and is authorized by the House of Assembly to closely examine and report on matters relating to the accounts of the Government of Bermuda and, in particular, to investigate findings reported by the Auditor General in the Auditor’s Annual and other Special Reports.
“The current Chairman of the Committee is Mr. E. David Burt.
“Members of the public are invited to attend and observe the hearing to be held at St. Paul’s AME Church Centennial Hall, Court Street, Hamilton.”
