Sunday September 20th: “Good News” Spotlight

News that Dakari Love advanced on The Voice UK after his impressive performance, Dylan Hollis ranked second on the Affinity 100 creator list, and Nicholas Christopher performed in an NFL halftime show were among the positive news stories from the past week.

In additional good news, Ross Caesar won two IFBB Masters titles in Texas, Aaron Lugo received a $30,000 Garden Club scholarship, Christopher Madeiros won the Bermuda Youth Tourism Speech Competition, and Nicola Muirhead’s photography was exhibited at the Jakarta International Photo Festival.

Other good news stories included Nicole Smith, Zen Mello and Krystal Lowe each receiving an $8,000 Arts Council student grant, Somersfield Academy celebrating strong academic results, Shavana Wilson earning the Public Service Excellence Award for August, and Rosewood Bermuda and The Loren at Pink Beach holding Michelin Key distinctions in the 2026 hotel selection.

More good news included the BPSU and Resident Family Council donating four wheelchairs for long-term care residents at KEMH, while the Bermuda Police Service and Department of Child and Family Services partnered to provide school supplies for students.

In sports, Bermuda’s Sunken Harbor Soca Kings opened their National Ball Hockey League Championship campaign with a shootout victory, while Xahvi DeRoza scored in the University of New Hampshire’s 2-0 win over Harvard.
