Cricket: Janeiro Tucker Replaces Terryn Fray
The Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] confirmed that Janeiro Tucker has been selected as a replacement for Terryn Fray, who injured his hand in a match against Canada.
“The national selectors considered carefully the loss of Fray as a specialist batsman,” the BCB said.
“As the current stand-by list only has 2 seam bowlers and a reserve wicket-keeper it was deemed necessary to reach outside the current squad.
“Janeiro will leave Bermuda on Thursday October 27th which will enable him to get to Los Angeles a full day ahead of Bermuda’s first game [against USA] on Saturday October 29th.
Lloyd Fray, President of the BCB, said: “I am extremely grateful that Janeiro has returned to assist our country at short notice.
“I recognise that he has had to postpone his scheduled shoulder surgery to accommodate this change at the eleventh hour.
“I wish to give special thanks to our friends at Digicel/BTC. Robin Seale and his team have always been very supportive of our national sport and we especially appreciate their sacrifice at this busy time for them.”
The BCB are also pleased to mention that, at the request of the coaching staff, Terryn Fray has been added to the touring squad in a non-playing capacity.”
This is a great choice as a replacement for Terryn. No need for the BCB,in this case,to explain their reasons in selecting Janeiro to fill in the position that was left by Fray due to injury. Janeiro brings experience as a former captain and also as one of the best allrounders that Bermuda has ever produced….His domestic and international statistics speaks for itself!! All the best Bermuda! Many Blessings!
