Thomas & Orchard Earn Scholarship, Bursary
Marshall Diel & Myers announced that their Legal Scholarship Award for 2019 is being awarded to Shannon Thomas, who will receive $10,000 to assist with the cost of pursuing his legal studies, while Reid Orchard will also receive a bursary from Marshall Diel & Myers Limited in the sum of $5,000.
Katie Tornari, Director and member of the Scholarship Committee said: “We are extremely pleased to award Shannon with this year’s Scholarship and Reid with a Bursary. Both students impressed us during their work placements with the firm this summer.
“Each of these young men is extremely bright, hardworking with a strong work ethic and I have no doubt that they both have successful legal careers ahead of them. We are delighted to be assisting them in achieving their career goals.”

Shannon Thomas is a second year law student at the Queen Mary University of London taking the Senior Status LLB program expecting to graduate in 2020. He was a student at Saltus, graduating with honours in 2014.
He said “It is truly an honor and a privilege to be awarded with this prestigious scholarship. Year after year this firm has consistently shown a strong willingness to promote the development of prospective Bermudian lawyers and I am happy to say that I am a testament to that. I have every intention to continue to work hard and do well to validate the investment this firm has made in me as I embark on my final year of law school.”
Reid Orchard is commencing his third and final year at the University of Plymouth, taking the LLB with Business program and is expected to graduate in 2020. He attended Somersfield in Bermuda and MillBrook School in NY.
He said “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Marshall Diel and Myers Scholarship committee for choosing me to be a recipient of their 2019 Bursary award. I feel honored to have such a respected law firm invest in my future, not only financially but empirically. The time I spent at the firm was invaluable towards building the foundation of my legal career. I look forward to completing my undergraduate degree and one day returning to Bermuda a qualified solicitor. I wish to thank everyone who has supported me, and I hope to exceed their expectations.”
