Drive-In Movies At City Hall In March
With the success of last year’s Drive-In movie night, the City is doing it again.
On Saturday, March 7th, film enthusiasts are invited to load the family into the car, head to City Hall Car Park and settle in for a double-header of box office smashes. Entry into the event is free and food and snack vendors will be on hand to satisfy the movie munchies.
Allison Tucker, Senior Events & Marketing Coordinator for the City, said of the event, “The City had an overwhelming response to last year’s Drive-In that it just made sense to do it again. We’ll have the biggest screen we have had in the series towering at 11ft high and 20 ft wide and we’ll use the entire lot for maximum viewing.
“Popcorn is a must at any movie and we’re excited to share that servers on rollerskates will deliver your bag right to your car window. This is a family-friendly event and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to experience the nostalgia of days gone by.”
The evening will kick off with the first screening at 5:30pm featuring the live-action version of Aladdin followed by the 8:00pm screening of Terminator: Dark Fate.
Vendors including Ashley’s Lemonade, Hot Dog Delight, J&B’s Woodfire Pizza, and Dandy Donuts will all be on hand to keep the audience plied with their favourite movie-going snacks and beverages.
The City said, “For those who wish to bring their own chair and sit back and enjoy the films there will be an allocated viewing space for non-drivers. Parking spaces are limited and will be on a first come, first serve basis. The public is encouraged to come early to get a good spot.
“Parking attendants and security will be on site as well as quality portable bathrooms. The south half of City Hall Car Park will be closed as of 6am. The north half will be closed as of 2pm. Exit barriers in the lot will be raised before the first screening ends so that no parking payment is necessary for movie-goers.
“The City looks forward to seeing everyone there.”
