Street Closure, Al Fresco Dining In St George’s
A portion of Water Street West in St George’s will be closing to vehicular traffic during some portions of the week to “allow the area restaurant to facilitate al fresco dining during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
A spokesperson said, “The Corporation of St. George wishes to inform the public of its plan to assist in the rejuvenation of the restaurant businesses in the Town of St. George.
“As part of the Covid-19 response, the Corporation of St. George will permit the closing to vehicular traffic, a portion of Water Street West from King’s Square to Custom’s House Square to allow the area restaurant to facilitate al fresco dining during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The street will be closed from Thursday to Saturday evenings between 5:30pm and midnight. Additionally, on Sundays the street will be restricted to vehicular traffic from 12pm until midnight.
“This is intended to be a temporary measure during the Covid-19 pandemic period only.
“The Corporation of St. George wishes to apologize to the motoring public for any inconvenience this temporary road closure may cause.”

This is great news, St. Georges needs more outdoor seating. Also to note many of St. Georges shops are closed on Sunday. Can you please remain open on both Saturday and Sunday as many Bermudians love to go to St. Georges on the weekend. Perhaps you could close on Monday instead?
Why a temporary measure? Why not permanent?
Perhaps something to do with the mayor being the owner of a gas station?
