Zeiko Lewis Named USL Player Of The Week
Bermuda’s Zeiko Lewis earned USL Player of the Week honors after his spectacular showing against Atlanta United 2 on Saturday night which saw him score two goals, including the last minute game winner.
The announcement on the USL website said, “The USL Championship announced the Team of the Week Presented by Cleer Audio for Week 8 of the 2020 regular season on Tuesday, with the Charleston Battery’s Zeiko Lewis earning Player of the Week honors after leading the Battery’s dramatic comeback victory against Atlanta United 2 on Saturday night.
“The Bermuda international scored twice, including the game-winner in second-half stoppage time, as the Battery took a 3-2 victory against Atlanta after coming back from a two-goal deficit early in the second half.
“Lewis earned 47 percent of the ballot for his performance. Indy Eleven’s Evan Newton received 27 percent of the poll after recording a three-save shutout that included a crucial penalty kick save in his side’s 1-0 victory against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which earned his 50th shutout in the Championship’s regular season all-time.
“The Championship’s Player of the Week is selected by the USL National Media Panel, which is made up of representatives from each media market in the Championship.”
