US To Require Negative Test From Air Passengers

January 13, 2021

The United States is “expanding the requirement for a negative Covid-19 test to all air passengers entering the United States” effective January 26th.

A statement from CDC said, “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expanding the requirement for a negative COVID-19 test to all air passengers entering the United States.

“Testing before and after travel is a critical layer to slow the introduction and spread of COVID-19. This strategy is consistent with the current phase of the pandemic and more efficiently protects the health of Americans.

“Variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus continue to emerge in countries around the world, and there is evidence of increased transmissibility of some of these variants. With the US already in surge status, the testing requirement for air passengers will help slow the spread of the virus as we work to vaccinate the American public.

“Before departure to the United States, a required test, combined with the CDC recommendations to get tested again 3-5 days after arrival and stay home for 7 days post-travel, will help slow the spread of COVID-19 within US communities from travel-related infections. Pre-departure testing with results known and acted upon before travel begins will help identify infected travelers before they board airplanes.

“Air passengers are required to get a viral test [a test for current infection] within the 3 days before their flight to the U.S. departs, and provide written documentation of their laboratory test result [paper or electronic copy] to the airline or provide documentation of having recovered from COVID-19.

“Airlines must confirm the negative test result for all passengers or documentation of recovery before they board. If a passenger does not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery, or chooses not to take a test, the airline must deny boarding to the passenger.

“Testing does not eliminate all risk,” says CDC Director Robert R. Redfield, MD, “but when combined with a period of staying at home and everyday precautions like wearing masks and social distancing, it can make travel safer, healthier, and more responsible by reducing spread on planes, in airports, and at destinations.”

This order was signed by the CDC Director on January 12, 2021 and will become effective on January 26, 2021.

Sorry anti-Covid vaxxers. You’e gonna have to fall inline and join reality if you want to fly :)

    • Check Yourself says:

Really, where does it say that? It says you must test negative…not be vaccinated. Sorry to bust your bubble. I know you thought you had something relevant but alas…you don’t.

      • Haha says:

They’re getting ready to enforce mandatory COVID-19 vaccination passports… peep the international news

      • Wake UP says:

Trust and know that this is the first roll out. By next year you will need to show that you got vaccinated to enter the USA.

      • This new requirement is not an issue because all jurisdictions will have to follow suet, I just hope they don’t get ridiculous and start putting a tax or charge on top of the requirements to enter.

The next thing to roll out if the powers that be have their way and get the laws changed, is the vaccine passports, and this is not to protect people from Covid19, This is to help fulfill a bigger World Agenda.

“This is to help fulfill a bigger World Agenda.”

          Nonsense. Plain old silly nonsense.

    • sage says:

Actually taking the vaccine is NOT a requirement (yet) you only need a pre-test just like anyone coming here.

      • Unbelievable says:

You’re right. I jumped the gun but I won’t be surprised if it did come to that. Get vaccinated.

Sorry “Unbelievable,” you’re going to have to fall in line and learn how to read.

  2. Joe Bloggs says:

How can President Trump allow this?

The China virus is no worse than the flu and this will wreck the economy for no reason!

    • Casual Reader says:

I guess he’s busy preparing for his criminal charge defense and/or impeachment trail?

    • Unbelievable says:

Tell that to the family and friends of the 385,000 people who have died in only 12 months from this virus.

  3. Sue B says:

I know this is very new info but I am eager to hear where visitors will be able to procure this viral test if their scheduled on island PCR test don’t coincide with travel.

  4. Bermudian says:

Its not that serious. Back in October I flew to the US and took a pre-test just to be sure and safe because that what a responsible member of society should do. This is the ‘new normal’. Get with it or move out of the way so we can pass through.
