‘Voyages @ Sea’ Online Events For Kids
Next week, the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] will host ‘Voyages @ Sea,’ a series of 40-minute interactive presentations, featuring fun activities designed to engage kids.
A spokesperson said, “At 10am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, April 5th, 7th and 9th, the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI], will host ‘Voyages @ Sea,’ a series of 40-minute interactive presentations across multiple media platforms, featuring fun activities designed to engage kids ages 5-13.
“Each presentation focuses on a different aspect of a voyage at sea, such as boat building, navigation, and migrations, incorporates a hands-on craft session using household materials, and provides opportunities to ask questions of the different BUEI crew members leading the adventure.”
“With the cancellation of spring camps, the closure of kid-friendly indoor recreational outlets and the further tightening of all family bubbles, parents islandwide are seeking safe, fun activities for their children,” said Karla Lacey, BUEI CEO. “Our Education team is excited to share some of what they developed for our camps with the entire community.”
“Voyages@Sea will be presented via Zoom, feed live to BUEI’s Facebook channel, and broadcast simultaneously on CITV. Those unable to participate online are encouraged to join the fun by tuning into CITV. CITV is on 102 WOW and Channel 2 on Bermuda Cablevision.
“While children registered in advance will receive a Zoom link to join the presentation in real time, all parents are encouraged to download the activity information and craft supply list in advance to ensure their child is able to be actively involved.
“Kids will be able to showcase their crafts both in real time and after the presentation, and have the opportunity to win prizes for doing so,” said Lacey. “A little added incentive to learn something new during this time when so much seems to have been taken away is a win-win for everyone.”
